Fort Worth Opera will inaugurate the tenth anniversary Festival season and celebrate the culmination of the first phase of its Opera of the Americas initiative with the world premiere of JFK - a FWOpera and American Lyric Theater co-commission - by the acclaimed creative duo of David T. Little and Royce Vavrek, beginning April 23, 2016.

New York Festival of Song's contemporary song series NYFOS Next -- dubbed 'invaluable' by The New Yorker and The New York Times -- enters its sixth season and continues its new format: a three-concert February mini-festival in the intimate state-of-the-art recital hall at OPERA America's National Opera Center. The Thursday concerts take place today, February 4, as well as February 11, and 18, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Wexford Festival Opera has announced the casting for the internationally renowned Festival, which this year will run for 12 days, from today, 22 October to 2 November.

Based on the final twelve hours of the 35th president's life and time spent in Fort Worth, Texas, JFK is the next major statement from the celebrated creative team of composer David T. Little and librettist Royce Vavrek, who made waves with their critically acclaimed debut opera Dog Days (2012).

On Friday, April 4th at 8:00 p.m., The Hartt Symphony Orchestra returns to The Bushnell's magnificent Belding Theater with renowned Maestro Edward Cumming conducting an evening full of wonderful classical music, including works by Glinka, Rossini, and Copland plus a performance of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony. Acclaimed opera star and West Hartford native, Matthew Worth, joins the ensemble in arias by Rossini ('Largo al factotum,' from The Barber of Seville) and ('Soliloquy' from Carousel), marking the first time Mr. Worth will have performed with The Hartt Orchestra. In addition, Jeffrey Hoffman, co-chairman of the family-run auto dealership Hoffman Auto Group, will guest conduct. Much like the ocean waters in which the show's title character resides, Washington National Opera's production of Moby-Dick is a bit choppy at times but is nevertheless an imaginative and soaring production. Transferring Herman Melville's 1851 novel into an opera is not an enviable task by any means. Yet, by reframing the story and having it be told in an active voice, rather than the novel's narrative tone, composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer have created a solid work, complete with a gorgeous score, stunning vocals and an eye catching visual design.

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2013-2014 season with the east coast premiere of the new American opera Moby-Dick, today, February 22 to March 8 in the Kennedy Center Opera House.

Minnesota Opera announces its 2014–2015 season, which presents a world premiere, a company premiere, two masterpieces not seen at Minnesota Opera in nearly three decades and a new production of an operatic blockbuster. All five productions are new to Minnesota audiences.
