Mary Martin's 1958 Studio Album 'HI-HO...WALT DISNEY FAVORITES' Gets Remastered

Stage Door Records has announced the debut CD release of Mary Martin's 1958 studio album HI-HO MARY SINGS AND MARY SWINGS WALT DISNEY FAVORITES on December 2nd 2016. The release continues Stage Door's COLLECTOR'S SERIES, a line of limited edition CD products that celebrate Broadway / Hollywood musicals and vocalists of the 1950s and 60s.

BEN DAVIS (Broadway's Violet, A Little Night Music, La Boheme)will play Captain Georg von Trapp and MELODY BETTS will play The Mother Abbess with MERWIN FOARD as Max Detweiler, TERI HANSEN as Elsa Schraeder, AUSTIN COLBY as Rolf and PAIGE SILVESTER as Liesl. The production introduces Jack O'Brien's brand new discovery, KERSTIN ANDERSON as Maria Rainer.  A current student at Pace University, Ms. Anderson won the coveted role from hundreds who auditioned. 

New York Times Turns Down Political HELLO, DOLLY! Ad

Hello, Dolly! taught us long ago that it takes a woman to bring us the sweet things in life, but that's not a message that the New York Times is willing to put into the world this November. According to Politico, the newspaper rejected an ad from the Broadway musical for a special 'For President' section. The ad read: 'IT TAKES A WOMAN,' and included comparatively small text listing the show's opening date and website.

BWW Review: GLENN ROSENBLUM a Smash Cabaret Hit at Rockwell

Actor and President of Celebrity Access, Inc Glenn Rosenblum performed his one-man cabaret Glenn Rosenblum Is 'the Musical Man' at Rockwell Table and Stage Monday October 24 to a packed house of adoring fans. Reminding one a little bit of actor James Coco, who had an undeniably infectious sensitivity and sense of humor, Rosenblum took the stage with great ease, sat on a stool by the piano and proceeded to tell his story. First, of course, there was a full overture of Broadway tunes, under the baton of musical director David J. Kaminski at the piano, Jon Butterworth on percussion and Josh Nyback on bass. The three musicians were terrific.

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that, beginning Tuesday, June 13, two-time Tony Award®-winner and one of Broadway's most treasured stars, Donna Murphy, will step into the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi for Tuesday evening performances of the upcoming Broadway revival of Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) Hello, Dolly!, starring the legendary Bette Midler.  (Ms. Murphy will also take over the role during Ms. Midler's vacations.)

Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Tony Award winnerWarren Carlyle, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances at Broadway's Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street) on March 15, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017.
