A STELLAR cast has been signed to present the Auckland season of RENT -- one of the world's most controversial and successful musicals - a scorchingly hot modern take on Puccini's La Boheme.

9 Works Theatrical's new production of Jonathan Larson's phenomenal '90s musical RENT is set to open this weekend in Manila. Cast members Johann dela Fuente, Cara Barredo (Mimi Marquez), OJ Mariano (Tom Collins), Carla Guevara-Laforteza (Maureen Johnson), Fred Lo (Mark Cohen), Peachy Atilano and Noel Rayos (Benny Coffin III) sang the show's anthem 'Seasons of Love' on The Filipino Channel's (TFC) Sunday noontime musical variety show A.S.A.P. to promote the show.

New productions of Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT are about to open in Manila, the San Francisco East Bay and New Jersey. And all these productions happen to feature Filipino and Filipino-American actors in their roster of young and hip cast members.

The Broadway Tour of Rent provides Toronto audiences with a fairly close facsimile of the true original - as opposed to the hand-me-down tours that have previously played the city. The show, however, remains problematic. * * * 1/2 (out of 5)

RENT: The Broadway Tour has had a very successful run for the past year, and is quickly coming to an end. The tour arrived in Toronto on the 12th of January, receiving rave reviews and filling the seats of the Canon Theatre with eager fans, excited at the chance to see Original Broadway Cast Members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprise the roles they first played over thirteen years ago on Broadway. Shortly after arriving in Toronto, Adam Pascal took some time to talk with BWW about what life on tour has been like for him, and about what is in store for the future.

RENT: The Broadway Tour comes to Toronto starting January 12th for two weeks at the Canon Theatre. Starring Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal and many other Rent veterans, this touring production welcomes newcomer Lexi Lawson to the Rent family in the role of Mimi Marquez.
