With a trio of powerful leading performances from Ben Van Diepen, Ciaran McCarthy and Laura Matula, the Boiler Room Theatre production of Jonathan Larson's Pultizer Prize-winning Rent may well be the finest interpretation of the groundbreaking musical we've ever seen. Flood Stage Productions present Jonathon Larson's rock opera RENT running 9/17-9/25 at the Grand Opera House on Main Street in St. Charles. RENT is Larson's reworking of Puccini's La Boheme, and tells the stories of young artists and musicians who are struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, while dealing with the spectre of AIDS.
Performers from Broadway in South Africa will participate in a free community concert at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at 7pm, to benefit Safe Space, a 91-year-old non-profit agency that serves at-risk children and families in Queens.
