Former Mayor Ed Kochwas the quintessential New Yorker. Always ferocious, charismatic, and hilariously blunt, the recently deceased (he died on February 1, 2013 the day the film opened in NYC) Koch ruled New York from 1978 to 1989-a down-and-dirty decade of grit, graffiti, near-bankruptcy and rampant crime. Directed by Neil Barsky, the film KOCH is produced by Jenny Carchman and Zeitgeist Films. It will open wider in New York and Long Island, continuing today, Feb. 15, 2013.

I've been writing for Houston's BroadwayWorld page for a brief 8 ½ months now, and one thing that I quickly learned and came to love about Houston is that there is always a wide selection of venues and titles to choose from. This past Saturday, I ventured from my residence in a Southeast suburb of the city to Playhouse 1960 for the very first time to see their production of I'M NOT RAPPAPORT. The aesthetically well-designed and beautiful performance space is nestled near FM 1960 and US 290, and the company provides audiences with a production of the Tony Award-winning comedy that leaves audiences with plenty to talk about it.

Clarence Darrow, America's most famous trial lawyer, defended the rights of sinners. The fact that he was no saint himself, just adds to his renown. In All Too Human: An Evening with Clarence Darrow, Henry Miller-a trial lawyer himself-explores (among others) 'The Scopes Monkey Trial' , where Darrow defended a teacher's right to teach the theory of evolution in a school in Tennessee; as well as the controversial trial of 'Leopold and Loeb'. Miller's one-act show gives us a fresh insight into why this giant of jurisprudence inspired generations, and left such an indelible mark on the nation. The production will end its run at Two River Theater Company on April 11th.
