The FESTIVAL OF NEW AMERICAN MUSICALS kicks off its 7th year with a staged reading of GOING HOLLYWOOD on Wednesday and Thursday, January 22 and 23, 7:30pm at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater in HOLLYWOOD.
Late last year, Reprise Theatre Company's artistic director Jason Alexander and board president Barbara Fodor wrote a letter to their subscribers announcing the RTC would be making a comeback. They wrote: 'We are pleased to say that behind the scenes we are working toward a rebirth of Reprise that is responsible, artistically renewed, and moving ahead steadily.'
According to the LA Times, Reprise Theatre has officially closed its doors after a long hiatus since 2012.

It is called FNAM's Show Search. On Monday, February 15 The Festival of New American Musicals' newly formed Academy for Young Professionals presented day-long master classes in vocal performance and auditioning at the Edgemar Theatre in Santa Monica. 42 high school and college students, ages 15-22, participated in this exciting new program that helps theatrically talented students prepare how to best market themselves for a very competitive musical theatre career. Casting director Michael Donovan, choreographer Joe Schenck, and musical theatre veterans Amanda McBroom and Karen Morrow presented classes from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Rubicon Theatre Company has announced the cast and creative team for the World Premiere of THE BEST IS YET TO COME: THE MUSIC OF CY COLEMAN, which began previews July 9 at Rubicon's intimate 200-seat home at 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. The show continues Wednesdays through Sundays through August 2, 2009.
