As 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, we will be treated to a year of exciting and innovative programming inspired by the Bard. Macbeth, directed by Carrie Cracknell and Lucy Guerin, is the first of three Shakespearean productions at The Birmingham Rep this year. Explored using a combination of the original text and dance, this adaptation focuses on Macbeth's breakdown, the supernatural forces behind it, and the ensuing chaos.

John Heffernan and Anna Maxwell Martin lead the company in Carrie Cracknell and Lucy Guerin's ambitious new staging of Macbeth at Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 26 - 30 January. This powerful interpretation is the first of three Shakespeare plays to be presented at The REP in 2016 to mark the 400th anniversary of his death.

Michael Longhurst directs his first production at the Almeida following great acclaim in New York and London for Constellations by Nick Payne.
National Theatre Live Will Bring THE BEAUX STRATAGEM to Cinemas This Fall

National Theatre Live has announced an international broadcast of George Farquhar's wild comedy of love and cash 'The Beaux' Stratagem,' directed by Simon Godwin (Man and Superman), to cinemas internationally on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Dates will vary at venues internationally and encore screenings will follow. This week, NT Live will broadcast Tom Stoppard's new play 'The Hard Problem,' directed by Nicholas Hytner, on Thursday, April 16. Also, it has been announced that the Donmar Warehouse's critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare's 'Coriolanus,' starring Tom Hiddleston in the title role and directed by Josie Rourke, will have an encore screening internationally on Thursday, November 12.

Saleh Bakri to Lead FIREWORKS at The Royal Court; Full Cast Announced

Casting is announced today for Fireworks, a new play by Palestinian playwright and poet Dalia Tala. Directed by the Royal Court's International Associate Richard Twyman and set in Palestine, the play is inspired by recent events in Gaza and gives new insight to the impact of war on childhood. The Royal Court has been working in Palestine since 1998, the first workshop was held at the Paradise hotel in Bethlehem and led by playwright Stephen Jeffreys, director Phyllida Lloyd and Royal Court International Director Elyse Dodgson. Fireworks has been developed with The Royal Court International Department over the last two years, and marks the first full production by an emerging Palestinian playwright which has been developed and staged by the company.
