STIFTERS DINGE By Heiner Goebbels Makes U.S. Premiere 12/16-20 At Park Avenue Armory

Stifters Dinge, created by the innovative German composer/director Heiner Goebbels, is the latest of his works to stretch the boundaries of live performance. The 70-minute-long sonic performance landscape was inspired by the writings of 19th-century Austrian romantic novelist Adalbert Stifter extended and minutely-detailed descriptions of nature. The title translates as 'Stifters Things.'

Theatre of the Eighth Day's WORMWOOD Makes NYC Premiere, 11/11

The legendary Theatre of the Eighth Day from Poland will premiere Wormwood in New York City in a special two performance event on November 11 and November 12 at the Abrons Arts Center. The play was famously banned in 1985 for its frank depiction of life in Poland under Martial Law. Founded in 1964, Theatre of the Eighth Day was one of the most uncompromising theater groups in Communist Poland and remains so today. It made its US debut to critical acclaim at the MADE IN POLAND Festival in New York City in November 2008, where it presented its 2007 avant-garde docudrama, The Files, based on actual secret police reports between 1975 and 1983 on the Theatre's actors. Wormwood will also play Yale Rep November 5 - November 7.

LOMBARDI, a new play by Oscar winner and Steppenwolf Theater Company member Eric Simonson, is based on the best-selling biography When Pride Still Mattered, by Pulitzer Prize winning author David Maraniss. Opening on Broadway in the fall of 2010, this original work will bring the audience into the life and times of one of America's most inspirational and mercurial personalities, Hall of Fame football coach Vince Lombardi.

Lincoln Center Receives 10M Grant For Redevelopment Project

The New York Times is reporting that Lincoln Center is the recipient of a recent $10 million grant from David M. Rubenstein, Managing Direct of the Carlyle Group. Throughout his career, focused largely on launching and managing the Carlyle Group (a private equity firm), Rubenstein has amasses a personal fortune of $2.7 billion. The grant will go towards Lincoln Center's much anticipated redevelopment project now underway.

This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine checked in with the rep for Evan Rachel Wood, who previous rumors stated was let go as Mary Jane, along with other contracted performers from SPIDER-MAN when the show hit financial troubles. Wood's representative tells the magazine however that she is still on board and that she was never set loose. Co-star Alan Cumming's rep was 'unavailable for comment.'
