Photo Flash: WONDERBOY At The Joyce Theater

In advance of the highly anticipated New York premiere of the Joe Goode Performance Group / Basil Twist work Wonderboy at The Joyce Theater (April 23-26), there will be a special Dance Talks with Mr. Twist on Monday, April 6 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Joyce SoHo (155 Mercer Street, between Houston and Prince). This event, a conversation between artist and audience, illustrated with dance videos and movement demonstrations, is free and open to the public, however reservations are required and can be made by calling (646) 792-8377.

Lincoln Center Begins A Year-Long Celebration Of Its 50th Anniversary On May 11

On the morning of May 11, 2009, 50 years after that momentous occasion, Lincoln Center will begin a year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary with a special ceremony in the newly-transformed Alice Tully Hall. New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert, acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman with alumni from The Perlman Music Program, Tony Award-winning opera star Paulo Szot, jazz icon Wynton Marsalis with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and The Juilliard Orchestra are among those scheduled to perform in a program that celebrates the past 50 years and looks to the next generation of Lincoln Center's artists and audiences. In the audience of this private event will be elected officials, performing artists, civic and community representatives, and leaders from all 12 Lincoln Center resident organizations.

It became official when, SPIDER-MAN, Turn Off the Dark, was announced to open on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Broadway's Hilton Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street (preview performances will begin Saturday, January 16, 2010). Directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor with 22-time Grammy Award-winning Bono and The Edge creating new music and lyrics, SPIDER-MAN will be written by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger. Well 'True Believers', since that official statement, the 'webslinging' work has heated up, and the creative process is in full 'swing' (forgive us the pun, but c'mon...).

Lincoln Center Festival 09 Line-up Announced, Runs 7/7-7/26

Nigel Redden, Festival Director, today announced the presentations for Lincoln Center Festival 09, which runs from July 7 through July 26, 2009 and offers 56 performances by artists and ensembles from 14 countries. The three-week Lincoln Center Festival 09-boasting 14 North American, U.S., and New York premieres and debuts-will unfold in six venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus, including Alice Tully Hall, where dance will be presented, and Park Avenue Armory, where the Festival returns for a second summer. Lincoln Center will launch at65, a dining space in the dramatic, new Alice Tully Hall on Broadway and 65th Street. at65 will be a contemporary cafe and bar that will be open seven days a week to serve both concert patrons and the general public. Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook returns in January for its eleventh season celebrating the diversity of American popular song. For 17 nights of pop, folk, cabaret, R&B, country, rock, show tunes, bluegrass and multimedia, the series will explore the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic contemporary songwriting. The 2009 season - January 14 through March 6 - will bring to the stage some of today's most gifted interpreters of song, including top vocalist Kurt Elling and country's winning Patty Loveless. It will feature the rare opportunity to hear Paulo Szot, star of Broadway's South Pacific, and film and stage star Alan Cumming, in intimate concert settings.

The second week of Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook brings to the Allen Room stage a jazz great, a new singer/songwriter, a country music classic and Broadway's newest heartthrob, all celebrating the diversity of American popular song. Singer Kurt Elling will re-create the standout recording that singer Johnny Hartman made in 1963 of the music of John Coltrane. Saxophonist Ernie Watts, The Laurence Hobgood Trio and the string quartet ETHEL will join Elling for this show, entitled Dedicated to You.

NY-Moving Theater Presents Five Performances Of LAST DANCE

NY-Moving Theater will present five performances of its show LAST DANCE at Park Avenue Armory on Manhattan's Upper East Side from January 7 through January 12, 2009. LAST DANCE is a new performance work choreographed and directed by Brennan Gerard & Ryan Kelly, and will be performed by and created in collaboration with Emilio Martinez Lopez, Marion Ramirez, and Anthony Whitehurst, with special musical guests Jason Abrams and Rupert Boyd.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) has announced that Tony® award winner Mary-Louise Parker (Hedda Gabler), Tony® award winner Michael Cerveris (Jorgen Tesman), Paul Sparks (Ejlert Lovborg) and Peter Stormare (Judge Brack) in a new Broadway production of Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. The production features a new adaptation by Christopher Shinn and will be directed by Ian Rickson.
