The Public Theater will begin previews forTHE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, a world premiere musical based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem, on Tuesday, September 30. With a book by Itamar Moses, music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, and conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE will run through Sunday, November 2, with an official press opening on Wednesday, October 22. The Public Theater announced complete casting today for THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, a world premiere musical with a book by Itamar Moses, and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. Conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE begins performances on Tuesday, September 30 and runs through Sunday, November 2, with an official press opening on Wednesday, October 22.

Dallas Theater Center announced today the award-winning cast and creative team for the world premiere new musical The Fortress of Solitude, a co-production with The Public Theater in New York City. The Fortress of Solitude is based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by 2005 MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Lethem. The musical is conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, with a book by Itamar Moses, and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. The Fortress of Solitude opens with previews on March 7 and runs through April 6. Stars from the Broadway musicals Newsies, Motown The Musical, Godspell, Soul Doctor and American Idiot join musical pop songwriter, Joey Contreras for his return to Rockwood Music Hall on Sunday, November 3rd at 9PM. After playing a packed house earlier in August, the award-winning songwriter will be delivering a bigger band with more tunes from his upcoming album, Young Kind of Love.

Manhattan Theatre Club has extended Tarell Alvin McCraney's CHOIR BOY through August 11, it was announced today by Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield. The critically acclaimed play with gospel music, directed by Trip Cullman, is currently playing at The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street). This is the final extension for the production as production prepares to move to Atlanta's Alliance Theatre.

Cast members Chuck Cooper and Jeremy Pope, from Manhattan Theatre Club's CHOIR BOY, will be appearing on NY1 'On Stage' this weekend, July 20 & 21. 'On Stage' airs Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 to 10:00 AM, and again from 7:30 to 8:00 PM It repeats on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:00 AM.
