Stages St. Louis Hosts PUTTING IT TOGETHER Benefit Cabaret Tonight, 8/13

Stages St. Louis will host PUTTING IT TOGETHER, a one-night-only cabaret event benefiting the organization's Education and Artistic Programs. PUTTING IT TOGETHER will feature some of Stages' favorite talents. Executive producer Jack Lane and special guests will perform alongside Casey Erin Clark, currently playing Maria in Stages' production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and Ben Nordstrom, making his highly anticipated St. Louis return.

For five decades, Central Park has been home to free summer performances of Shakespeare classics under the stars, and as correspondent Tracy Smith reports, actors say the work is magical. To get a sense of the magic launched in 1962 by the late theater producer Joe Papp, Smith talks to Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Amy Adams, James Earl Jones, Waterston and others about 'Shakespeare in the Park.'

Lynn Cohen Joins Cast of HUNGER GAMES Sequel

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Broadway vet Lynn Cohen has joined the cast of Lionsgate's CATCHING FIRE, the sequel to the hit film 'The Hunger Games.'

STAGES Performing Arts Academy expanded their teen performance workshop this Summer by moving to the state-of-the-art Skip Viragh Center for the Arts at Chaminade College Preparatory School. The three-week program features professional teachers, directors, and guest artists from around the country, resulting in a final full-scale production of Urinetown: The Musical. As STAGES Performing Arts Academy teens neared the end of the rehearsal process, they were greeted by a surprise audience member. On August 2nd, Hunter Foster, who originated the lead role of Bobby Strong in the first Broadway production of Urinetown, stopped in to catch the final dress rehearsal of the show, offering a very special "break a leg" to the young cast. Liz Callaway Stars in SUNSET BOULEVARD, Opening at Pittsburgh CLO Tonight, 7/24

Audiences will be captivated by Andrew Lloyd Webber's fiery story of love, fame and Hollywood in Pittsburgh CLO's debut production of Sunset Boulevard, tonight, July 24 through July 29 at the Benedum Center. Tony Award nominee Liz Callaway, critically-acclaimed star of Love Changes Everything, returns to the Pittsburgh CLO stage as eccentric Hollywood actress Norma Desmond.

'Classic Conversations with Michael Kahn' Hosts Stacy Keach Tonight, 7/23

The Shakespeare Theatre Company previously announced that STC Affiliated Artist Stacy Keach will join Artistic Director Michael Kahn for the final installment of the Classic Conversations series to be held at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St. NW) tonight, July 23, 2012, at 8 p.m. Classic Conversations with Michael Kahn is a series of discussions with classically-trained actors presented as part of the Company's 25th Anniversary Season.

The Public Theater will begin previews on Monday, July 23 for Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, the second show of The Public's 50th Anniversary season at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel, INTO THE WOODS will continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25, with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.

Circle in the Square's Theodore Mann to Be Remembered with New Tribute Page

As a special homage to Theodore Mann, Circle in the Square's co-founder, artistic director, and co-producer who passed away on February 24th of this year, Circle in the Square Theatre School is inviting the theater-going public, the theater community and those who worked with him to share their remembrances of Mann and the over 175 productions that he with Jose Quintero, and later with Paul Libin brought to the stage.
