The Public Theater Extends THE LOW ROAD Through April 8

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today a one-week extension for the American premiere of THE LOW ROAD, written by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris. Directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, THE LOW ROAD is part of The Public's Astor Anniversary Season at their landmark downtown home on Lafayette Street, celebrating 50 years of new work and the 50th Anniversary of HAIR. THE LOW ROAD will now run through Sunday, April 8.

Lightning Bolt Productions To Present YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN - THE MEL BROOKS MUSICAL

Lightning Bolt Productions burst onto the Boca Raton theatre scene last August with their well-received production of The Addams Family at the Boca Black Box Center for the Arts. The success of the fledgling company's first effort encouraged the company's young founder Jessie Hoffman, to 'bump it up a level': their next production, Young Frankenstein - The Mel Brooks Musical, will open on April 13th at West Boca Performing Arts Center at West Boca High School*. The show will run through April 22nd.

BWW Review: Bryce Pinkham and Denee Benton Mix Love and Politics in MasterVoices' OF THEE I SING

Back in 1931, when the firm Kaufman, Ryskind, Gershwin & Gershwin had the novel idea to infuse that stodgy old music/theatre entertainment, the Broadway operetta, with the jauntiness of showtune and a chaotic mixture of comedic highbrow and lowbrow to tell the tale of an unqualified, but charismatic American politician who rides a wave of popular support for his questionable platform to the United States presidency, musical comedies typically employed a bit more on-stage and front-of-stage talent than audiences are accustomed to seeing nowadays.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presented the 30th Anniversary of No Way to Treat a Lady. A laugh-filled evening featuring songs from the Richard Rodgers Award winning musical by Douglas J. Cohen, based on the novel by William Goldman (The Princess Bride). MAC Award winner KLea Blackhurst (Hello, Dolly!, Goodspeed) and author Cohen co-host the event which will feature many of the performers from past productions, both off-Broadway at the York Theatre and Hudson Guild, and regionally (Florida Studio Theatre, Village Theater, Barrington Stage, TheaterWorks in Hartford, Coconut Grove in Florida, Colony Theater in L.A.), as well as photographs and footage from over a dozen international productions. Cohen will also reveal some of the show's unique history behind the scenes.
