Toronto is preparing for the worst at this year's G20 Summit, held June 26 and 27. In the wake of riots at the Pittsburgh, London, and Vancouver summits, security and safety are Toronto's first priority. The North American tour of MAMMA MIA! has decided to leave the city one week early, closing June 20, and Toronto's production of ROCK OF AGES, now selling through September 5, has cancelled performances for the week of the summit. Reports Variety: 'Mirvish Prods. chose to close both shows for the entire week surrounding the G20, resulting in a loss of C$2 million ($1.95 million) in revenue.'

A terrific cast and a score made up of 80's evergreens makes Rock Of Ages an energizing night out. The cliche-ridden plot serves solely as an excuse for the two dozen period songs, but the in the end it's the music that delivers the high-octane entertainment.

Last night, May 23, the Drama Desk Association hosted the 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Former Drama Desk Award winner Patti LuPone hosted the ceremony, which honored the best of Broadway and off in the 2009-2010 season. The producers of ROCK OF AGES announced today that Tony Award Nominee and 'American Idol' finalist, Constantine Maroulis, will reprise his acclaimed performance as Drew in the First National Tour of the five-time Tony Award nominated smash-hit musical ROCK OF AGES. The tour will launch in September in Chicago with a limited two-week engagement at the Bank of America Theatre September 21 - October 3, 2010. In a show of semi-permanent appreciation, ROCK OF AGES honored of one of its most dedicated fans and winner of its holiday 'Deck the Halls Extreme Rock' contest, Gavin Knox, this month. For the Christmas challenge, the production invited fans to submit a performance video of a holiday carol, sung in the rockin' style of the hit show. The winner was selected by ROCK OF AGES cast members, including Constantine Maroulis, Kerry Butler, and James Carpinello. The prize package included a pair of tickets to the performance, a backstage tour, a curtain call ovation, dinner for two at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, a copy of the original cast recording, and a Temptu tattoo, applied by the show's make-up artist, worn by the cast members on stage each night.
