Lincoln Center Theater, in association with Bob Boyett and NETworks Presentations, presents a new production of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein's prize-winning musical SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Bartlett Sher.

The 2010-2011 season for Broadway Grand Rapids (BGR), while marking the company's 23rd year, raises the curtain on an impressive new level of performance. The stage was set with the exciting news that Broadway Grand Rapids and Michigan State University's Wharton Center for Performing Arts have established a partnership that is dramatic - literally and figuratively. For theater lovers throughout West Michigan, this pairing creates an enhanced opportunity to secure top-notch shows for the DeVos Performance Hall venue. The new season reflects the power and the theatrical magic that the organizations have been able to conjure up together. This includes the return to a 5 show subscription series and the additional of 4 special events, the most offered in a BGR season. The subscription series will include Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, Legally Blonde The Musical, In The Heights, Grease and Shrek The Musical. In addition to the subscription series, BGR will also offer CHICAGO, STOMP, New Shanghai Circus, and The Aluminum Show.

This week, we are following in the steps of SOUND OFF and showcasing some other productions of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical that was just so rapturously received in both it's Tony-winning 2008 Broadway revival but also Wednesday night's Live From Lincoln Center broadcast of the final performance starring Kelli O'Hara and Tony-Award-winner Paulo Szot. It was a night beyond compare as far as live theatrical filmings go, and included will be a taste - as well as the tropical sights and sounds of some other iterations of the legendary musical. SOUTH PACIFIC, directed by Bartlett Sher, began performances Saturday, March 1, 2008 and opened Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The show will end its record breaking run on Sunday, August 22, 2010, making it the longest running Broadway revival of a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.

On August 13, Ravinia opened its three-day run of Irving Berlin's hit-filled Broadway classic ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. Taking on her third Merman role, Patti LuPone stars as the sharp-shooter opposite Patrick Cassidy as Frank Butler and George Hearn as Buffalo Bill Cody. The production is directed by Lonny Price with Paul Gemignani leading the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The shows, Aug. 13 through 15, begin at 7:30 p.m.
