Today it's been announced that director Julie Taymor will fly to Madrid, Spain to work on the new production of Disney's The Lion King which started rehearsals today. John Stefaniuk will be assistant director of the show.

Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out eight-week return engagement in Toronto which concluded on Sunday, June 12. The engagement, which the Toronto Star enthused, "is back and more glorious than ever," grossed over $12 million at the box office and entertained more than 123,000 patrons during 64 performances at The Princess of Wales Theatre.

Casting has been announced for the Dayton premiere engagement of Disney's THE LION KING.

The Lion King roared back into Toronto Wednesday night, where it opened for a very limited run at The Princess of Wales Theatre. The show has been a hit in the city before, enjoying a four year run in early 2000 before leaving in 2004. BWW had the opportunity to talk with Associate Director John Stefaniuk about what is has been like bringing this show to his hometown of Toronto.
