Kathy Buckley Performs at Kirk Douglas With The No Lomits Children's Chorus 6/17

Gifted comic, award-winning actress, accomplished author, and renowned inspirational speaker Kathy Buckley originally gained fame as 'America's First Hearing Impaired Comedienne,' a five-time American Comedy Award Nominee as Best Standup Comedienne. 'Heroes' Way' features Ms. Buckley and the No Limits Children's Performing Ensemble for one night only, Saturday, June 17 (7:30pm) at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, benefiting No Limits national outreach educational program for deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

Arden Theatre Co to Participate in Kennedy Center's New Visions/New Voices Festival

Arden Theatre Company is proud to announce its participation in New Visions/New Voices, a week-long festival to support and stimulate the creation of new plays and musicals for young audiences, hosted by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. At the festival, the Arden will be further developing their commission of The Flea and the Professor, Jordan Harrison's new musical adaptation of the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Following a week of collaborative workshops, The Flea and the Professor will be featured in a series of public readings beginning May 21, 2010.

Writers' Theater Presents A MINISTER'S WIFE, 5/5

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce that A Minister's Wife, Writers' Theatre's musical adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Candida, will be produced by Lincoln Center Theater in the 2010-11 season. The original musical was conceived and directed by Michael Halberstam, adapted by Austin Pendleton with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen. The Lincoln Center production will be directed by Halberstam. Performances begin on Thursday, April 7, 2011 and opens on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street, New York City).

Kennedy Center Receives $22.5 Million Donation

The Kennedy Center has received the largest private donation in its history - a $22.5 million gift from Dick and Betsy DeVos to endow its Arts Management Institute that trains the nation's arts leaders. Additionally, David M. Rubenstein was appointed the new Chairman for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

In the past 125 years, plenty of things have come and gone in our society. Horse and buggy rides used to be a common mode of transportation but are now relegated to being novelties that tourists indulge in. Women no longer lace themselves into corsets, and men no longer Brilliantine their hair. Black vinyl records now exist solely on the shelves of collectors, and if one were to order a strawberry phosphate at the local luncheonette, he or she would be greeted by a look of utter confusion on the other side of the counter. However, the Boston Pops Orchestra, founded in 1885 is still performing on tour and in Boston's beautiful Symphony Hall. According to some mavens, it's an orchestra that has truly improved with age.

Katie Holmes to Play Jackie Kennedy in New History Channel Miniseries

According to published reports, former All My Sons star Katie Holmes will play Jacqueline Kennedy in a new television miniseries, 'The Kennedys' for the History Channel. The eight-hour miniseries - the first for the History Channel - will also star Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy. The series is written by Steve Kronish and directed by Jon Cassar, who collaborated on '24.' An air time is set for 2011.

Mortenson Performs 'Three Cups of Tea' for Literature to Life, 5/18

The Literature to Life® program of The American Place Theatre will honor Greg Mortenson, the author and humanitarian, with its 2010 Literature to Life Award and a live performance of an excerpt of Mortenson's book, 'Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace...One School at a Time,' at a gala May 18 at The Time Center, 242 West 41st Street. The event will benefit the American Place Theatre's arts and literacy outreach in schools across America.
