The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry Presents the 2017 Summertime Today Puppet Show Series

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will once more present its popular Summertime Today Puppet Shows Series of new works by UConn Puppet Arts students and alumni for family audiences on seven consecutive Todays, July 1 through August 12, 2017. Each show will be performed twice, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. All performances will take place at the Ballard Institute Theater located at 1 Royce Circle, Storrs Center. 'We are very excited to present these new shows by UConn students,' Ballard Institute Director John Bell said; 'they all represent the ingenuity, inspiration, and high standards of UConn's Puppet Arts Program, and will be extraordinarily entertaining.'

John Bell AO OBE, founder of Bell Shakespeare Company and Helpmann Award winner, partners with internationally acclaimed ARIA-nominated pianist Simon Tedeschi to present a deeply moving performance of Lord Alfred Tennyson's classic 1864 poem Enoch Arden, set to music by German composer Richard Strauss in Space Theatre on Saturday 15 July.

Curio Theatre Company Finishes 12th Season with Peeoplykus' Hilarious THE MASSIVE TRAGEDY OF MADAME BOVARY

Curio Theatre Company closes its 13th Season with the North American premiere of Peeoplykus' adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's classic novel Madam Bovary. In 2013, Curio Theatre Company had a hit in its hilarious production of Hound of Baskerville adapted by Peepolykus (pronounced people-like-us), UK's most exciting touring theatre company. The Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary runs April 26-May 20. Opening Night is Friday April 28. All shows are at Curio Theatre Company's Black Box at the Calvary Center for Culture and Community, 4740 Baltimore Ave.  Shows are performed Thursday-Saturday night at 8 p.m.  The First Preview is Wednesday, April 26. The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry Presents First-Ever BANNERS AND CRANKS MINI-FESTIVAL

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will present its first-ever Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival on April 14 and 15, 2017 in conjunction with its current exhibit Banners and Cranks: Paintings and Scrolls in Performance. The Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival will present cranky and cantastoria performances created by puppeteers, musicians, and artists from throughout the Northeast, with productions geared for adult audiences on Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. and family-friendly shows on Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. All events will take place at the Ballard Institute, located at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs Center. 'The Banners and Cranks Mini-Festival,' Ballard Institute Director John Bell said, 'is an exciting new addition to our performance programming, and we are very happy to bring these shows to Storrs Center.'
