If you like a gripping drama, you will want to catch Tony nominee Michael Cumpsty (Boardwalk Empire,' End of the Rainbow and Michael Crane in The Body of an American, now playing at the Cherry Lane Theatre, directed by Obie winner Jo Bonney (Father Comes Home from the Wars..., Lost Girls) and presented by Primary Stages and Rhoda R. Herrick, in association with Hartford Stage. Winner of the 2014 Horton Foote Prize for Outstanding New American Play and the Inaugural Edward M. Kennedy Award (shared with Tony-winner All The Way). The Body of an American tells the true story of an extraordinary friendship as two men, a war photojournalist and playwright, journey from some of the most dangerous places on earth to the depths of the human soul. Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced that HANNAH AND THE DREAD GAZEBO by Jiehae Park is the 2016 L. Arnold Weissberger New Play Award recipient. Jiehae will also receive The Jay Harris Commission to write a new play, a prize worth $10,000.

The evening  included cocktails, dinner, and live auction led by Charity Auctioneer Robbie Gordy of Christie's New York. Hosted by Jessica Hecht and David Hyde Pierce, the evening included special appearances and performances by: star of stage and screen Ana Gasteyer, Telly Leung (Broadway's Allegiance), Lindsay Mendez (Broadway's Wicked), New York's hottest new band Sky-Pony (led by Tony Award-nominated singer/actress Lauren Worsham and musician/writer Kyle Jarrow), and more. Williamstown Theatre Festival hosted its starry 2016 gala this evening at City Winery in New York City, where Artistic Director Mandy Greenfield announced the initial lineup for this summer's season -- the 62nd for the Tony Award-winning theatre company. Among the big names slated for the 2016 Summer Season are Alfred Molina, Marisa Tomei, Jane Kaczmarek and Michael Stuhlbarg.

Dan O'Brien's play THE BODY OF AMERICAN turns on a friendship built on a bond of differing traumas.   It's a true story, and an on-going one. We watch two edgy, damaged, highly verbal men trying to understand themselves through the other and forge a friendship without pretense.

Dan O'Brien's drama was inspired by a horrific incident captured by photojournalist Paul Watson.

To life! The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF just opened Sunday night, December 20 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), wrapping up the 2015 Broadway season. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, and choreographed by Hofesh Shechter.
