Jeremy Johnson: Collected Plays Volume 2 is for carnivores who have eluded capture by the contemporary mores of political correctness. In these works, there is virtually no sex, violence, nudity or profane language. Yet they wage war against the conceits of the enlightened intelligentsia. Whether as dramas or comedies the plays of Jeremy Johnson celebrate the paradoxical nature of humanity; what it was to be living in last decades of the 20th century and how in the early part of the 21st century western society is engulfed by ever spiraling decadence and diminishing awareness of human purpose. The gap between the sacred and profane, the material and spiritual becomes ever wider as the powers that be profiteer from the attempts to eradicate these universal truths and morals which have served mankind since his appearance on earth. Instead, humanity is perversely programmed to abide by a transient code of ethics, governed by the tyranny of relative values. These principals provide the battle ground for ideas in the Johnson dramatic canon. It is these very ideas and values which have always justified the Arts being an essential component of human evolution.
