The National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the initial success of the first half of the NNPN Rolling World Premiere (RWP) of Bars and Measures by Idris Goodwin.

Presented by the Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue), the season features two world premieres with live music by Skip La Plante and Harry Mann, and Osserman's Udjat (1985).

The French edition of 'Selfless Self: Talks with Shri Ramakant Maharaj' has just been published. 'Le Soi Sans Rien: Entretiens avec Shri Ramakant Maharaj' follows 'Je Suis'. Alan Jacobs, President of Ramana Maharshi Foundation UK, was the first person to announce: 'Ramakant Maharaj is Nisargadatta Maharaj's successor, and 'Selfless Self', the natural successor to 'I Am That'. This important book from Self-Realized Master, Shri Ramakant, direct disciple of Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj, was first published, in English, in 2015. Watkins Books, London, describes it as a 'companion to I Am That', while others claim that its simple clarity actually unravels 'I Am That'. Ann Shaw, editor of 'Selfless Self', explained: 'When Nisargadatta Maharaj left his body in 1981, he left behind him a massive hole which seemed impossible to fill. But now, no longer! Ramakant Maharaj, is an authentic, Realized Master who conveys the highest spontaneous and direct knowledge with utter simplicity. This is unprecedented'. The Master's teachings are unadulterated, powerful and transformative, as many seekers continue to find out first-hand, either from reading the book and/or visiting him in person. 'So many people teaching today with only book knowledge, (what he terms 'dry' or 'literal' knowledge), some body experiences, but no knowledge in a 'Real' sense, no Self-Knowledge! How can they guide? This is like the blind leading the blind'. He often says, 'Everyone should be enlightened because when you see through the illusory world, your suffering will come to an end'. His sincere wish is for these teachings to spread across the globe. The publication of 'Le Soi Sans Rien', as well as other translations in progress, are bringing the Master's wish closer to fruition. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced programming for the 2016–2017 season for the Center, the National Symphony Orchestra, and Washington National Opera. Under President Deborah F. Rutter's continued leadership, the Kennedy Center is re-imagining ways of presenting the arts in the 21st century through interdisciplinary programming, immersive audience engagement, and a focus on artist-centric programming. The 2016–2017 season includes significant and institution-wide initiatives from the yearlong celebration marking the Centennial of John F. Kennedy's birth, to three newly appointed Artistic Partners who will lead these artistic and community initiatives (Yo-Yo Ma, Rene?e Fleming, and Q-Tip), and the support of American programming. The Maids, Trafalgar Studios Jamie Lloyd has enlisted a cracking trio of actresses to take on this contemporary adaptation of Jean Genet's psychological thriller. Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat) and Laura Carmichael (Dowton Abbey) join forces to explore sex, murder and class.

Berkeley Playhouse presents the world premiere of BRIDGES: A NEW MUSICAL, with lyrics and book by Cheryl L. Davis (2009 Writers' Guild Award winner and Daytime Emmy Award nominee for As the World Turns), composed by Douglas J. Cohen (2005 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics for Off-Broadway's Children's Letters to God, Richard Rodgers Grants and the Gilman & Conzalez-Falla Theatre Foundation Award for Off-Broadway's No Way to Treat a Lady), and conceived by Founding Artistic Director Elizabeth McKoy (developer of new musical theatre works for Berkeley Playhouse including: Born And Raised, Bravado, and Just So Stories).

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today four of the seven productions that will comprise the lineup of the company's 50th subscription season, which will open in September 2016 with the 2015 Olivier Award-winning Best New Play, King Charles III, a coproduction with Seattle Repertory Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC; the world-premiere theatrical adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's (The Kite Runner) best-selling novel A Thousand Splendid Suns, featuring a live score by acclaimed musician David Coulter; the acclaimed new play, John, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker; and Battlefield, Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne's intimate new interpretation and staging of Brook's groundbreaking production of The Mahabharata. The additional three productions-along with performances order and run dates-will be announced at a later date.
