BWW Review: THE HUMANS: 2016 Best Play Tour at Boch Shubert Center

The National Tour of the 2016 Tony Award-winning play THE HUMANS makes its Boston debut at the Boch Center Shubert Theatre. Playwright Stephen Karam, a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, is well-known to local theater audiences from his dark comedy SONS OF THE PROPHET, and SPEECH AND DEBATE. With humor and heart, THE HUMANS offers an in-depth look at the foibles and fears of the members of one family and how they help each other survive in an increasingly unforgiving world.

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) Presents VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) continues its 58th season with Christopher Durang's comic mash-up of the plays of Anton Chekhov, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, directed by Diana Trotter in her CCCT debut.  Winner of the Tony, Drama Desk, and New York Drama Critics awards for Best Play, CCCT's production plays April 13 through May 6.

Victory Gardens Theater continues its 43rd season with the World Premiere of Lettie, written by Boo Killebrew and directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. BWW Review: SKELETON CREW: 'Survivor: Detroit'

According to AMERICAN THEATRE magazine, Dominique Morisseau's SKELETON CREW is the third most-widely produced play of the 2017-2018 season at regional theaters nationwide. Huntington Theatre Company stages the timely final chapter of the playwright's Detroit trilogy, a powerful drama about the hardships suffered in the Motor City after the 2008 economic recession. Directed with care and great attention to detail by Megan Sandberg-Zakian, the family of workers at an auto plant try to stand their ground against the inevitable while maintaining their dignity and their connections to one another. Outstanding performances by Patricia R. Floyd, Jonathan Louis Dent, Toccarra Cash, and Maurice Emmanuel Parent.

Xiadi Zhai From Boston Latin School Named Massachusetts 2018 Poetry Out Loud Champion

Boston Latin School senior Xiadi Zhai was named Massachusetts's 2018 Poetry Out Loud (POL) Champion Sunday at Boston's Old South Meeting House. She bested 23 other finalists to earn the top honor. First runner-up was Helen Rahman, a senior from Masconomet Regional High School, and second runner-up was Tori Milun, a sophomore from Norwell High School.

Goodman Theatre revives Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years, Emily Mann's "warming theatrical event" (Variety)that celebrates the lives of "two strong, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom" (Chicago Tribune). Goodman Theatre Resident Director Chuck Smith's production features Ella Joyce and Marie Thomas as the Delany centenarians, Bessie (1891 - 1995) and Sadie (1889 -1999), respectively, as they trace their lives in a heartfelt reflection of their family history and triumphs over prejudices in times of social unrest.

La Jolla Playhouse Announces Projects for 2018 DNA New Work Series

25 Students To Compete In The Massachusetts State Finals Of POETRY OUT LOUD

Twenty-five students from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts advanced from this weekend's four regional semi-final contests of the 13th annual Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest to compete in the State Finals on Sunday, March 11 at the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington Street, Boston). The event begins at 9:30am and is free and open to the public. The Huntington Theatre Company's Department of Education has facilitated the Massachusetts chapter of this national contest in partnership with the Mass Cultural Council since its inception 13 years ago.

Utopia Theatre Project Presents SEEDS This Month

Utopia Theatre Project is concluding their inaugural season with the world premiere of Seeds. This original work by a new Bay Area playwright explores the contemporary themes of sexual identity, masculinity, and sexual assault, all through the lens of World War II. Poetry Champions From 86 Massachusetts High Schools Compete At Four Regional Poetry Events

Student poetry champions from 86 high schools across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will participate in four regional semi-final contests this weekend in Boston, Framingham, South Yarmouth and Springfield, as part of the annual Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest (POL).  Now in its 13th year, the state contest is facilitated by the Huntington Theatre Company's Department of Education in partnership with the Mass Cultural Council.
