Zach Braff Hosts Huntington Theatre Company's 'Spotlight Spectacular!' 5/9

Screen and stage actor, writer, and director Zach Braff will host the Huntington Theatre Company's 2011 Spotlight Spectacular! gala benefit on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. The event will honor Boston playwright Lydia R. Diamond and Trustee Bill McQuillan with The Wimberly Award, the Huntington's highest honor. The evening's entertainment will be announced shortly.

Asolo Repertory Theatre Announces Details For 2011 Unplugged

Asolo Repertory Theatre today announced its selections and details for the 2011 Unplugged festival of new plays. Playwrights include Jeff Baron, one of the world's most-produced playwrights in the past decade; Jamie Pachino, winner of this year's Francesca Primus Prize from the American Theatre Critics Association; Bill Rosenfeld, who was nominated for 30 Grammy Awards and won 4 times; and Mat Smart, winner of two Jerome Fellowships and the San Diego Playbill Award for Best New Play.

'My Wonderful Day' Vintage Ayckbourn

Zeitgeist Stage Company presents New England premiere of playwright Alan Ayckbourn's 70th play. Lead by 10-year old Hyacinth Tauriac (alternating with Alanna Logan) in a star turn, talented ensemble portrays adults behaving badly, as seen through the eyes of a child who puts it all down in her homework essay called 'My Wonderful Day.'

Poetry Out Loud Contest Reaches 19,000 Students

Massachusetts' Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest reaches a record 19,000 students from schools in 78 towns in its sixth year. The Huntington Theatre Company facilitates the Massachusetts segment of the national contest that brings poetry into the classroom in a dynamic way, growing students' speaking skills and self-confidence. The Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Huntington sponsor the Massachusetts contest; the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Poetry Foundation sponsor the competition on the national level.

Photo Flash: Berkeley Rep Presents the Pulitzer Prize-Winning RUINED

A collaboration between Berkeley Rep, Huntington Theatre Company, and La Jolla Playhouse, this production has already earned seven awards - including Outstanding Dramatic Production - from the San Diego Critics Circle. It began previews in the state-of-the-art Roda Theatre on February 25, opens March 2, and closes April 10.
