Orange County's resident professional ballet company, Festival Ballet Theatre, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of their annual Gala Of The Stars on Friday, August 18th with stellar performances from some of the most distinguished dancers of our time.
Pink Martini is part big band, part classical ensemble, part salsa troupe and all fun! The energetic and enthusiastic "little orchestra" finds its musical inspiration from cultures around the world, easily jumping from genres like pop, jazz and classical to establish its own unique blend of music. Formed in Portland, Ore., the 12-member ensemble has been a popular favorite in many countries for more than a decade with its revitalization of vintage Big Band sound, in combination with 1940s jazz, cross-cultural rhythms and much more! Pink Martini will join Pacific Symphony musicians onstage for the third time since 2010, in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall as Richard Kaufman conducts.

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Segerstrom Center for the Arts will co-present Tod Browning's 1931 film classic DRACULA starring Bela Lugosi with original music by Philip Glass performed live by the legendary composer at the piano, the Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet, with Michael Riesman directing from the keyboard.

Before Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) leaves on its first international tour in July, the talented young musicians conclude their milestone 10th anniversary season by paying homage to the band tradition, as well as the ensemble's history in the Pacific Symphony family. The concert, “Traditions,” kicks off with Paul Basler's thrilling work, “Carnival,” followed by Johann Sebastian Bach's “Fervent is My Longing” (Chorale Prelude) and “Little” Fugue in G Minor. At the center are two cornerstone works for wind ensemble—Ralph Vaughan Williams' “English Folk Song Suite” and Gustav Holst's First Suite in E-flat—to celebrate the wind band culture's deep-rooted tradition. “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss Sr. concludes the concert on a victorious note.
Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the U.S. National Tour of the smash hit West End musical The Bodyguard, starring Grammy nominee and multi-platinum recording artist Deborah Cox May 30 - June 11. On June 1, the Center will host its second LGBT night, and guests are invited to enjoy a post-show party with Ms. Cox and members of the cast.
Pacific Symphony Pops 2017-18 promises a season so bright with stars, music and fun that audience members may need their sunglasses! Led for the 27th year by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, the season includes seven heavenly concerts showcasing a constellation of indelible music, beginning with one of today's most talented music producers, David Foster, and special guests.
“Yes, we can!” That has been the emphatic response from the Orange County community for the last seven years, when asked by Pacific Symphony: “OC Can You Play With Us?” What began as a one-time endeavor in 2011 to expose the avocational musicians to professional music education and performance has continued to grow in size and spirit with each passing year. More than 230 people have participated in the side-by-side program since its beginning. The simple invitation to play onstage alongside the Symphony's orchestra members was met with such enthusiasm over the years that, in 2014, a chamber music edition was added. Like its predecessor, the chamber edition was an instant success, and now both programs have become highly anticipated annual events. With about 100 participants in total this year, “OC Can You Play With Us?” continues to encourage, inspire and make dreams come true!
Hear the mighty, one-of-a-kind William J. Gillespie organ in all its acoustic wonder, when outstanding virtuoso Monte Maxwell performs an eclectic program of organ favorites including something for everyone during Pacific Symphony's final “Pedals and Pipes” concert this season. The renowned organist—who plays for the U.S. Naval Academy's Chapel and has performed for diplomats and national leaders from around the world—travels to Orange County for this showcase of the organ's stunning palette of sounds, often adding his own twist to classic arrangements. The Board of Directors of Pacific Chorale, the resident choir of Segerstrom Center for the Arts, has announced its 2017-2018 season, themed "What Inspires You?" under the baton of the organization's new incoming Artistic Director, Robert Istad, as the Chorale celebrates its 50th Anniversary Year.
