Grammy and Emmy Award winner, Tony Award nominee and multi-platinum recording artist Harry Connick, Jr. returns to Broadway in Harry Connick, Jr. IN CONCERT ON BROADWAY which opened last night, July 15. This limited engagement of 11 performances only will play the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street) through Monday, July 29. Harry Connick, Jr. IN CONCERT ON BROADWAY is presented by James L. Cortland Repertory Theatre's stage will spark with 'steam heat' in the third show of their 39th season as they present the all-singing, all-dancing musical 'The Pajama Game', with music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, and a book written by George Abbott and Richard Bissell based on Bissell's novel '7 1/2 Cents'. The original 1955 Broadway production won the Tony Award for Best Musical, and Bob Fosse won his first of many Tonys for Best Choreography. The recent 2006 Broadway revival starred Harry Connick Jr. and won the Tony Award for Best Musical Revival with Kathleen Marshall also winning for Best Choreography. CRT's production will be the first time this theatre has presented the musical, which will also be the first professional production in Central New York in years. Previews will begin today at Virginia's Signature Theatre for the world premiere musical Sycamore Trees written by Ricky Ian Gordon, the award-winning composer of the opera The Grapes of Wrath and the musicals Dream True and My Life with Albertine. A starry Broadway cast portrays Gordon's own family story - complete with a tough Bronx-born father and former 'Borscht Belt' singer/comedian mother - in a tale of two generations' struggles and triumphs in the decades from World War II through the 1990s.
