Jess Goldstein, Douglas W. Schmidt & More to Receive 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards

Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

World Premiere of Tanya Barfield's BRIGHT HALF LIFE Opens Tonight at New York City Center

Women's Project Theater, under the leadership of newly-appointed Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty, is pleased to present the World Premiere of BRIGHT HALF LIFE - a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Tanya Barfield and directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman - in a five-week limited engagement at New York City Center Stage II (131 W. 55th Street) through March 22, 2015. Opening night is set for tonight, February 25.

Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival to Present ROMEO AND JULIET

The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival today announced a special addition to its 2015 season. Offering a three-night-only run of performances in early March, NDSF will present Romeo and Juliet tied to its 2015 theme: "Love, Loss, and Laughter." Professional actors will perform a 75-minute version of Shakespeare's famous love story while incorporating live acoustic music. Performances will beMarch 5, 6, and 7 at 7:00pm in Notre Dame's Philbin Studio Theatre.

GTA Stages Ancient Drama ANTIGONE, Opening Tonight

Continuing its 35th Anniversary season and as part of its annual February Festival of plays, the Gainesville Theatre Alliance is producing its very first Ancient Greek drama for the MainStage, Sophocles' Antigone. The original heroine's fight to preserve her family's honor opens tonight, Feb. 13th at University of North Georgia's Ed Cabell Theatre (3820 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood).

Laura Griffith, Brandon O'Neill & More to Star in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF at ACT

The first play of ACT's 50th Anniversary Season will be packed with talent. Broadway alums and Seattle favorites Laura Griffith and Brandon O'Neill will play Maggie the Cat and Brick, one of the most iconic couples in the theatrical canon. John Aylward, a Seattle treasure who went on to make a name for himself in Hollywood with recurring roles on ER, The West Wing, and Mad Men, will play the family patriarch Big Daddy. Rounding out the cast of leading roles will be elite Seattle acting veteran Marianne Owen as Big Mama. Kurt Beattie, in his final year as Artistic Director will direct this powerhouse cast.

GHOSTS AFTER IBSEN to Run 3/2-19 at the cell

the cell in association with The Furies will present a newly adapted version of Henrik Ibsen's GHOSTS entitled GHOSTS AFTER IBSEN written by Thomas Kilroy and directed by Austin Pendleton. Previews begin Monday, March 2, 2015 and the production will run until Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the cell, 338W 23rd St. The official opening will be on Friday, March 6th at 7:00 PM.

Bristol Riverside Theatre to Present RAGTIME, 3/17-4/12

Bristol Riverside Theatre explores what it means to be an American with its production of Ragtime on March 17-April 12. The Tony Award-winning musical with book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens is directed by Keith Baker and features Leslie Becker, Derrick Cobey, David Edwards, Tamar Greene, Michael Thomas Holmes, Matt Leisy and Ciji Prosser. Supporting roles will be played by Ciaran Barlow as Edgar, Will Connell as Houdini, Jim Conte as Grandfather, Stephen Dagrosa as Willie Conklin, Sarah J. Gafgen as Emma Goldman, and Chelsey Jean as Evelyn Nesbitt. The ensemble includes Rajeer Alford, Amy L. Armstrong, Charles Michael Bendas, Daniel Bontempo, Elena Camp, John DiFerdinando, Jessica Gruver, Brian Michael Henry, Adam Hoyak, Angelica Jackson, Jessica M. Johnson, Walter E. Tucker, Dwayne Washington, and Paul Weagraff.

Terrence McNally's MOTHERS AND SONS Begins Tonight in Philadelphia

Philadelphia Theatre Company's continues its 40th Anniversary season with the Tony Award-nominated play Mothers and Sons by Terrence McNally tonight, February 6, through March 8. Directed by Wendy Goldberg, the cast features Hugh Kennedy, Emmy Award-winning actress Michael Learned, James Lloyd Reynolds, and Patrick Gibbons and Jacob D. Wilner in alternating performances.

Lynn Nottage's RUINED Begins Tonight at Everyman Theatre

The Pulitzer Prize winning drama Ruined by Lynn Nottage makes its Baltimore premiere at Everyman Theatre this winter. The epic play features a cast of 17, led by Everyman Resident Company Member Dawn Ursula, who was seen last season as Vera Stark in Nottage's comedic drama By the Way, Meet Vera Stark. The production is directed by internationally acclaimed director Tazewell Thompson and will run from tonight, February 4th through March 8th.

Grantham Coleman, Tessa Ferrer & Michael Stahl-David to Star in The Public Theater's BUZZER

The Public Theater announced initial casting today for the New York premiere of BUZZER, by Tracey Scott Wilson. Directed by Obie Award-winner Anne Kauffman, BUZZER marks the return of Wilson to The Public following her acclaimed The Good Negro in 2009 and The Story in 2003. BUZZER will begin previews in The Public's Martinson Theater on Tuesday, March 24 and will run through Sunday, April 26, with an official press opening on Wednesday, April 8.

'MASTER HAROLD'...AND THE BOYS Play the Wharton Center, Now thru 1/31

With the metallic clink of a coin in a jukebox and the scratch of a needle on a record, the character Willie utters the conclusive words, 'Let's dream.' And so they do. Caught up in a whirlwind of post-World War II traumas and the suffocating tensions of racism in 1950s South Africa, the three actors of this masterpiece by Athol Fugard bang and clash against their fluctuating society in this tale of hope, escapism, dark secrets, and the cruel power of language - creating one of the 20th century's greatest plays. 'MASTER HAROLD'...and the boys will play at Wharton Center for Performing Arts tonight, January 30, and Saturday, January 31 in the Pasant Theatre.

TRIBES Begins 2/3 at Artists Rep
