Whatever happened to those toe-tapping, audience-grabbing musicals of yesteryear - like The Drowsy Chaperone? You remember it - it's the one where the Broadway star wants to leave the show because she's fallen for some oil-rich lummox, so the producer hires a gigolo to woo the girl and put the kibosh on the nuptials. With chorus girls and gangsters and an aviatrix and, of course, the 'drowsy' chaperone!

The most celebrated musical of the 2006 Broadway season, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, will play its final performance at the Nashville at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall on February 14, 2010. Original direction and choreography is by Tony Award® nominee Casey Nicholaw (Spamalot), with music and lyrics by Tony Award® winners Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, and a book by Tony Award® winners Bob Martin and Don McKellar.

While many actors aspire to direct, few ever achieve fame in both disciplines. The Drowsy Chaperone's Jay Douglas, however, is one exception. He performed six roles in the production on Broadway during it's 2006 - 2007 run, including the lead Man in Chair, and at one point served as the show's dance captain.

Tony Winner Donna McKechnie and Klea Blackhurst will join Cady Huffman as performers in the 42nd Street Moon Salons, which will hold two performances on October 13th and January 28th. The October 13th performanace, entitled 'I Feel A Song Coming On!' is a salon of Dorothy Fields songs and is lead by Tony Winner Cady Huffman. The January 28th salon is a tribute to Ira Gershwin, led by McKechnie. Also joining the cast is Klea Blackhurst, as well as Bill Fahrner, Alexandra Kaprelian and Darlene Popovich.
