Oratorio Society of New York to Perform at Carnegie Hall, 11/2

The Oratorio Society of New York opens its 2015-16 season and Carnegie Hall subscription series on Monday, November 2, 2015, with a work that has become closely identified with its music director.  Kent Tritle led the U.S. premiere of Juraj Filas' Requiem, Oratio Spei (Prayer of Hope), at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in 2011 (with a choir of 60 singers), and he conducted the work's debut recording, a project of the New York-based Harmony Foundation, in Prague with the Prague Symphony and Kuhn Mixed Choir in 2013.  On November 2, he leads the Oratorio Society in a performance of the work with soloists Susanna Phillips, soprano; Matthew Plenk, tenor; and John Moore, baritone.

Boston Lyric Opera Presents Puccini's LA BOHEME Tonight

Giacomo Puccini's indelible characters, led by doomed lovers Mimì and Rodolfo, make a 120-year leap from the 1840s to the 1960s as Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) premieres a new production of the much beloved, often-reinvented La Bohème. Transitioning the story of mid-19thcentury Parisian bohemian artists to mid-20th century student artists on the brink of social change, thisBohème opens BLO's French-influenced 2015/2016 Season and runs tonight, October 2, through October 11, 2015 at the Citi Performing Arts CenterSM Shubert Theatre.

Katrina Lenk, Richard Topol, Lenny Wolpe and More Star in Yale Rep's INDECENT World Premiere, Beginning Tonight

Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at the University Theatre (222 York Street), tonight, October 2, through October 24. Opening Night is Thursday, October 8. The world premiere of INDECENT is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, where it will play November 13-December 10.

IlluminArts Presents SONGS OF THE CITY, SONGS IN THE DARK Tonight

Aviva Players to Host 'Double Feature of Chamber Opera Films,' 11/4

The Aviva Players, now in its 40th season, invites opera goers to travel into the past and future with its 'Double Feature of Chamber Opera Films' to be presented at Opera America, 330 Seventh Ave., Manhattan, on November 4. The films are 'Villa Diodati' a screen version of Mira J. Spektor's opera about Mary Shelley and the origins of her Frankenstein story, and 'Libertaria: the Virtual Opera' by Sabrina Pena Young, a futuristic animated tale that may be the world's first original machinima opera and is certainly one of the few animated comic book operas.

Climate Change Theatre Action to Hold Kick Off Event at Nuyorican Poets Cafe, 11/2

Neil LaBute, Erik Ehn, Arthur Kopit, Deborah Laufer, Ryan McCurdy of Broadway's ONCE, and Heather Woodbury join CLIMATE CHANGE THEATRE ACTION - a series of worldwide readings and performances intended to bring awareness to, and foster discussion around, climate change during the months of November and December 2015.

Utah Opera Opens Season With Puccini's TOSCA, 10/10

Beginning Saturday, October 3, 2015, That Bachelorette Show, off-Broadway's biggest dance party and spoof of ABC's 'The Bachelorette,' welcomes actor and reality star Vinny Guadagnino of MTV's 'Jersey Shore.' He'll play Giovanni Giovanni, ex-boyfriend and hopeful suitor of the titular bachelorette. Guadagnino joins a cast led by former Miss New York USA and Fox New's 'Red Eye' panelist Joanne Nosuchinsky as bachelorette Adriana Orlando.

Wedow, Abell, Polianichko and Allen Conduct Lyric Opera of Kansas City's 2015-16 Season, Beginning Tonight

Lyric Opera of Kansas City General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the four conductors for the 2015-2016 season in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Gary Thor Wedow (pictured, left, Mozart's Don Giovanni), and David Charles Abell (Bizet's Carmen) will be returning to the Lyric Opera. Alexander Polianichko (Dvorak's Rusalka) and Christopher Allen (Donizetti's The Elixir of Love) will be making their Lyric Opera debut.

Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian to Perform at VPAC, 10/22

Internationally renowned Soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian returns to her roots in a program featuring traditional Armenian music including troubadour songs, ancient liturgy, lullabies, hymns and folk music through the centuries.  Accompanying her will be Camerata Pacifica and pianist/composer Serouj Kradjian whose “Diramayr Hymns” for voice and cello will be a world premiere.  This recital, performed as part of the 13th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, marks Ms. Bayrakdarian's VPAC debut.

Sondra Radvanovsky to Play Title Role in Met Opera's ANNA BOLENA

This Saturday, September 26, American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky will begin her season-long quest to sing all three of the principal heroines in Donizetti's 'Tudor trilogy,' being presented in its entirety for the first time at the Met this season. In the first opera, Anna Bolena, Radvanovsky stars as the young queen Anne Boleyn, grasping to hold onto the throne of England. Later this season, Radvanovsky will also star as the devout and doomed Mary, Queen of Scots in Maria Stuarda and as the conflicted Elizabeth I in the first-ever Met performances of Roberto Devereux. Radvanovsky will be the first soprano since Beverly Sills in the 1970s to sing the lead roles in all three operas in the course of a single New York season.
