Productions Inc. in association with Shortened Attention Span Theater and Producer Al Messina is proud to announce the World Premiere Staged Reading of Charles Messina's new play A Room of My Own at the The Players Theatre Main Stage. A Room of My Own is a comedy set in the late 1970s and revolves around one wacky Italian-American family living in a small tenement apartment in Greenwich Village. Headed by a conniving, thieving matriarch, a gambling addicted patriarch, and an uncle with a secret that everyone knows, The Morelli Clan of Thompson Street is one outrageous bunch. Their struggles with debt, poverty and a Nun who they welcome into their lives is seen through the eyes of little 10 year old Carlo Morelli, a would-be writer, whose vocabulary consist mainly of four letter words. Playwright/Director Messina is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed, off-Broadway hits Mercury, about the life of rocker Freddie Mercury, and Cirque Jacqueline, about former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He is also directing Richard Vetere's musical Be My Love, about the life of legendary tenor Mario Lanza, which is being produced by Sonny Grosso and Phil Ramone. The cast of A Room of My Own features Tony ?n Tina's Wedding stars Johnny Tammaro, Gina Ferranti, Chris DePierro, Gina Musumeci, and Carlo Rivieccio. Rounding out the stellar cast is Monica Arazi, who was last seen in John Guare's Cop Out and Talking Dog at The Gene Frankel Theater, and young John Barbieri, who starred in Messina's play Klepto last season at The Players.

The Barrow Group Theatre Company will present a studio theatre production of WHO YOU SEE HERE by Matt Hoverman, directed by Stacy Shane, with performances starting on Friday, March 6, 2009 (Opening is Saturday, March 7th, 2009). WHO YOU SEE HERE is a four-character comedy about a small town couple whose love is tested when a charismatic but troubled movie star stumbles into their local AA meeting.

Written by Reyes and presented by Cuchipinoy Productions, WHO AM I will be performed at the Gene Frankel Theatre, located at 24 Bond Street, beginning on March 19th. This year Franklin will be celebrating his birthday - what he is calling his 39th birthday! - by attending an invitation only, industry reading of Charles Messina's new play 'A Room of My Own' at the Players Theater in Greenwich Village. On February 18 and 19, La MaMa will host an open house, 'New Voices Heard,' featuring a sampling of eight plays that were developed during the summer of 2008 in the La MaMa Umbria International Playwrights Retreat. This free event will take place at La MaMa La Galleria, 6 East First Street, Manhattan (between Second Avenue and Bowery), Manhattan. Admission is free. Excerpts of eight plays will be presented. Seven will be staged readings and one will be fully acted.

Four hunters, lost in the Canadian woods, begin losing their minds and battling a gigantic, unseen creature in this adaptation of Algernon Blackwood's classic tale of supernatural horror. One of Blackwood's best stories is the magnificent THE WENDIGO, written in 1908. On the surface, this is a classic story of man versus nature but on a spiritual level the story forces us to question our position and purpose in the universe, to wonder if perhaps there are some places, as the narrator says, that 'no human foot was meant to trod.'

STRAIGHT ON TIL MORNING mashes up the tale of Peter Pan, the cold calm secrets of author JM Barrie and the neighborhood everyone loves to hate - Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and offers a glimpse of the addictive fervor that was tangible before the cranes came in. Before the pool held concerts. Before the TastyD on Bedford. Part Indie Rock aficionado, part dive-bar junky, the play follows Peter and his cohorts over the course of a 24 hour period as the past comes back, the future seems boring and The Now wins out. Only today, in the rapidly changing playground of Williamsburg, could a play written in 2003 then produced in 2009 be considered a PERIOD PIECE, but that's exactly what this new production of STRAIGHT ON TIL MORNING is.

The festival aims to create spontaneous theater in a compressed period of time while allowing an audience to witness the theatrical process in its entirety; from auditions and casting through the staging of twenty eight original works. The festival will provide a vivid and unique glance into the world of theatrical and artistic production, while providing a platform for playwrights, actors, and directors to exercise their craft in an exciting and creative environment.
