Offering an exciting range of green theater this summer, from May 29-June 23 the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre, music and film festival will present 30 full theater productions and 15 free staged readings at the Robert Moss Theatre (440 Lafayette Street) and the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street).
Columbia Stages will present NEW PLAYS NOW, the annual festival of new plays by emerging artists from the MFA Theatre Program at Columbia University School of the Arts. It is an epic zombie action thriller by Qui Nguyen, that will invade the East Village's Gene Frankel Theater for a strictly limited 17-performance engagement tonight, April 5 - 21, 2013.
On Sunday, June 16 at 7:30pm at the Alice Griffin Jewelbox Theatre in the Pershing Square Signature Center, the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala 'One Acts for a Cause' will showcase three new one-act plays by acclaimed playwrights Neil LaBute, John Patrick Shanley and Winter Miller (Neil LaBute and Winter Miller's pieces will be world premieres). The evening, which will start with a VIP reception with the playwrights at 6:30pm followed by the performance at 7:30pm, will raise funds for the non-profit Safe Horizon, the leading victim services agency in the United States. Horse Trade Theater Group and Spookfish Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of ADVANCE GUARD by Ming Peiffer, May 8-19 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street). The production will be directed by Kat Yen (Pornography for the People; The ABC's Guide to Getting Famous) and will feature David M. Farrington, Ben Kaufman, Alesandra Nahodil, Eamon O'Rourke, Matt Stillo, and Mari Yamamoto. The creative team will include Lighting Design by Porsche McGovern and Set Design by Norihito Moriya.

Following its acclaimed 16-week run at the Lookingglass Theatre Company this fall, Metamorphoses brings the mythical tales of Ovid to life at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, 10 years after the Broadway premiere. Written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman, Metamorphoses is based on David Slavitt's translation and marks the first time Zimmerman will direct the production since its Broadway run. This is also the first time Zimmerman will stage Metamorphoses in the round, and a custom set will be designed with the largest pool of water ever created for this production. Metamorphoses dives onto the Fichandler Stage tonight, February 8-March 17, 2013.
Proof, the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by American playwright David Auburn will be presented for 8 performances only at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street - between Lafayette & Bowery). Produced by an ensemble of independent New York actors and artists, performances will begin on Thursday, February 21st and continue through Sunday, March 3rd.
August Strindberg Repertory Theatre (www.strindberg.org), which was formed last year to illuminate Strindberg's plays for today's American audiences, will present Strindberg's 'Easter' (Pask, 1901) with an all-black cast, adapted and directed by Robert Greer, from March 8 to 31 at the Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street (East Village). The play has a similar complement of characters to Strindberg's 'Playing With Fire' (Leka med elden, 1893), with which the young company made an auspicious debut last Spring. Cast members from 'Playing With Fire' will be returning to play their corresponding roles in 'Easter.'
