Anthony Giardina's Off-Broadway smash hit THE CITY OF CONVERSATION, about a Georgetown political hostess, makes its Washington, D.C. debut at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Following his direction of the 2014 world premiere at Lincoln Center Theater, Tony Award winner Doug Hughes returns to direct this political drama spanning three decades, from Carter's presidency through the Reagan era and ending with Obama's inauguration. THE CITY OF CONVERSATION runs now through March 6, 2016 in the Fichandler Stage. The show just celebrated its opening night and BroadwayWorld has photos from the festivities below!

Abingdon Theatre Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tony Speciale, has added two performances to its world-premiere run of A ROOM OF MY OWN, written and directed by Charles Messina, on Sundays, February 21 and March 13 at 7pm. Off-Broadway previews are set to begin Saturday, February 13 in the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Opening night is set for Thursday, February 25, with performances through Sunday, March 13.

Actor's Express continues its 2015-2016 season with the world premiere of Janine Nabers' Serial Black Face, a gripping drama set against the backdrop of the Atlanta Child Murders of the late 1970s, running April 2-24. The play was named the winner of the 2014 Yale Drama Series by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman who said of the playwright, "Janine Nabers is an extraordinary writer - powerful and funny and brave." Berkeley's Aurora Theatre Company announces the company's new works initiative to promote the creation of forward-looking theater, Originate + Generate. After a successful 10-year run, the Global Age Project festival of new works has evolved and shifted focus from discovery to development, including commissions, workshops, readings, and full productions of new plays. Every year, theater artists will be selected and given the opportunity to create new work via processes of their own devising. They will receive the financial support, resources, and physical space to create works specifically for Aurora's stages. Special consideration will be given to local theater artists. Aurora Theatre Company is pleased to announce that the first O+G two artists are Jonathan Spector with The State of Nature and Beth Wilmurt with Cabaret Olga. During the creation process, audiences will be invited to attend various workshops and presentations as the works are being created as well as a series of pop-up readings by other theater makers.

Back by popular demand, On Kentucky Avenue: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Historic Club Harlem returns to City College's performing arts center Aaron Davis Hall on Friday, February 19, for a three-day encore engagement. The show, which shines a red-hot spotlight on a little-known piece of Black history and a famed club that came out of the segregation era, is presented by the City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and Byron and Sylvia Lewis.
