Actor's Express continues its 2015-2016 season with the world premiere of Janine Nabers' Serial Black Face, a gripping drama set against the backdrop of the Atlanta Child Murders of the late 1970s, running April 2-24. The play was named the winner of the 2014 Yale Drama Series by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman who said of the playwright, "Janine Nabers is an extraordinary writer - powerful and funny and brave." Nabers is an alumna of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition. Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley will direct the world premiere.

Atlanta, GA, November 2, 2015-The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced winners for the 2014-2015 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening at the 11th annual awards ceremony held at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center. Presenters included local favorite performers Denise Arribas, Tiffany Porter, Gina Rickicki, Clifton Guterman, Kevin Harry, Jeremiah Parker Hobbs, Chris Kayser, and Topher Payne.
This evening, Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2014-2015 Atlanta professional theatrical season. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Horizon Theatre. Guest announcers included the ladies of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project: Kelly Criss, Veronika Duerr, Jaclyn Hofmann, Tiffany Porter, and Megan Rose.
Performances of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2 PM and select Saturdays at 2 PM and Sundays at 7 PM. The Kennedy Center, in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, the National New Play Network (NNPN)-the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays-and with Stanford University's National Center for New Plays, will host more than 50 playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs from July 25 to August 2, 2015 as part of the 10th annual weeklong MFA Playwrights' Workshop featuring new works by MFA students from Columbia University, Northwestern University, Fordham University, Yale School of Drama, the Juilliard School, New York University-Tisch School of the Arts, University of California-San Diego, and the Juilliard School.
