Washington National Opera (WNO) today announced full programming details for the fifth season of the American Opera Initiative, its comprehensive commissioning program that brings contemporary American stories to the stage while fostering the talents of rising American composers and librettists. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company officially opens its 2016-2017 mainstage season with "The Diary of Anne Frank", adapted by Wendy Kesselman from the play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, based on "The Diary of A Young Girl" by Anne Frank.  This production, playing September 9 - October 1, 2016, is directed by Jeremy Dubin, Artistic Associate at Cincinnati Shakespeare, and features Courtney Lucien, last seen on Cincinnati Shakespeare's stage in the titular role in last season's smash hit Emma. Pedro Almodovar will be honored with a major career retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art. Opening on November 29 with a special screening of Almodovar's latest work and 20th feature film, Julieta (2016), to be released nationally on December 21, the retrospective will include all 20 of the director's feature films, beginning with his first film Pepi, Luci, Bom, y otras chicas del monton (Pepi, Luci, Bom) from 1980.

This weekend the Montevallo Main Street Players present A 1940's RADIO VARIETY SHOW, featuring CASABLANCA.
