TNT's FALLING SKIES Comes to Comic-Con 2010, 7/23

TNT's FALLING SKIES, the eagerly anticipated series from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg, is coming Comic-Con. The series stars Noah Wyle. The drama series, slated to premiere in summer 2011, envisions a world where aliens have invaded, and the fate of humanity lies in the hands of a few survivors. The series stars Noah Wyle (ER, TNT's The Librarian movies) and Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation). Also on the FALLING SKIES team is co-executive producer and writer Mark Verheiden (Heroes, Battlestar Galactica). The 3 of them will attend Comic-Con for a Q&A panel session scheduled to take place Friday, July 23, from 4:45 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. (PT) in Room 6A. They will also be available for an autograph signing, time and location to be announced.or an autograph signing, time and location to be announced.

2nd Stage's TRUST Begins Previews, 7/23

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced that Zach Braff, Bobby Cannavale, Sutton Foster, and Ari Graynor will co-star in the world premiere comedy TRUST, written by Paul Weitz, directed by Peter DuBois. Mr. Weitz returns to Second Stage Theatre, where his plays Privilege and Show People premiered in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Directed by Peter DuBois, who staged Second Stage's acclaimed production of Becky Shaw, TRUST will begin previews on Friday, July 23 at Second Stage Theatre (305 West 43rd street) and officially open on Thursday, August 12. The production runs through September 5.

Ancient squirrel folklore turns into a chase for riches when Nickelodeon premieres an all-new DreamWorks Animation The Penguins of Madagascar special, 'The Lost Treasure of the Golden Squirrel,' on Monday, July 19, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The half-hour special kicks off a week of The Penguins of Madagascar premieres every night at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) through Friday, July 23.

After just two days of preview performances as the loveable green ogre ‘Shrek' in SHREK THE MUSICAL, Chicagoan Eric Petersen and his wife Lisa Morabito Petersen proudly gave birth to their own beautiful baby. Sophia Marie Petersen, weighing 8 lbs, 7 ounces and 20.5 inches long, was born at 5:12 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial's Prentice Women's Hospital.

Allison Janney Joins Viola Davis in 'The Help' Film

EW.com reports today that Allison Janney will be joining Viola Davis in the DreamWorks upcoming film adaption of The Help. The Emmy winner and 9-5 alum will play the role of Charlotte Phelan - mother of heroine Skeeter Phelan - in the film, based on the book by Kathryn Stockett.

RIALTO CHATTER: Yorkey Joins CATCH ME Team?

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that Brian Yorkey, who just won the Pulitzer Prize for NEXT TO NORMAL has joined the creative team of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, working on Terrence McNally's book. His work is said to have been very well received and the show is said to be fully on track for a Spring opening on Broadway.

SHREK Opens at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane, May 2011!

DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions announced today that SHREK THE MUSICAL® will open at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in May 2011, with a press night on June 7, 2011. The new stage musical is based on the story and characters from William Steig's book 'Shrek!' and the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation feature film 'Shrek,' the first chapter in the series of irreverent fairy tales.

IFC Acquires 'Freaks and Geeks,' 'Undeclared'; 'Geeks' Premieres 7/2

Continuing to build on its strategy of showcasing 'slightly off' comedies that appeal to its young male audience, IFC announced today it has acquired the complete series of Judd Apatow's Emmy(R)-winning high school comedy 'Freaks and Geeks' (18 episodes) and college spinoff 'Undeclared' (17 episodes) from Paramount Pictures Corporation. These two cult TV hits helped launch the careers of Jay Baruchel, Jenna Fischer, James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel, among other young stars. 'Freaks and Geeks' will premiere on IFC on Friday, July 2 at 11 pm, et/pt, and encore on Mondays at 11 pm and Sundays at 10 pm. 'Undeclared' will debut on IFC this fall. A previously unaired episode of 'Undeclared' will make its U.S. television debut on IFC.
