Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Artistic Director, Mark W. Jones-Executive Director) presents Paper Mill's premiere of Disney High School Musical. Paper Mill's Artistic Director, Mark S. Hoebee directs and Denis Jones (Associate Choreographer of Legally Blonde) choreographs. Disney High School Musical is based on the Emmy Award® winning Disney Channel hit musical and triple-platinum selling soundtrack. Disney High School Musical will run at the Millburn theatre from November 5 through December 7, 2008. Disney High School Musical is sponsored by RBC Wealth Management. BWW TV joined in on the school spirit as Bailey Hanks, Chase Peacock and the rest of the dynamic young cast got ready to bring this successful favorite to the Paper Mill stage!

Performance Space 122 presents the world premiere of Death, a dance-theater piece by solo performance artist Sara Juli that addresses the taboo topic of death. After losing her father tragically to cancer, Juli experienced first-hand our culture's inability to deal with death. She was amazed that something inevitable was so uncomfortable for people who, in particular, seemed to struggle to find the right thing to say and do. In this 50-minute solo performance, Juli uses movement, text, song, gesture, sounds, humor and audience interaction to present a reflection on the awkwardness of death. Juli will be six months pregnant during the performance adding a layer of a piece about death while pregnant with life.

This October Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Triangle will host some of the entertainment industry's favorite writers, celebrities, newsmakers, and musicians such as Diahann Carroll, Tom Perrotta, Lea DeLaria, Nicholas Sparks, Geoffrey Canada, Isaac Mizrahi, Cesar Milan, Sarah Vowell, Tony Curtis, Dave Barry, Robert Vaughn, Victoria Osteen, Naomi Wolf, George Hamilton, Richard Belzer, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, Maya Angelou, and many more.

So far at this evening's Emmy Awards, theater stars Jeremy Piven, Dianne Wiest, Laura Linney, Dame Eileen Atkins and Zeljko Ivanek are among the winners.

Playwright, performer and activist Daniel Beaty has been creating a community-wide buzz with his acclaimed one-man show Emergency that has enabled the Geffen Playhouse to produce a special week-long extension aimed primarily at Title I public schools (three additional performances will also be added for the general public). The production will now close at 2pm on Sunday, June 1.

The 2008 MAC Award Winners have been announced

Eileen Fulton, Klea Blackhurst, John Treacy Egan, Heather Parcells & Nancy Witter announced the nominees for the 22nd Annual MAC Awards of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs, on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 1:30pm at Barnes & Noble, Lincoln Triangle (at 66th Street).

Bob Mackie, the legendary fashion icon who has been hailed as the Sultan of Sequins and the Rajah of Rhinestones for his sparkling, visually stunning and imaginative costume designs, will be honored with the Inaugural Fashion Arts Charlie Award by the Hollywood Arts Council at their Black-Tie 30th Anniversary Gala and 22nd Annual Charlie Awards, emceed by KABC's George Pennachio, to be held at the Jim Henson Studios, the site of the original Charlie Chaplin Studios and home of the world-famous Muppets; 1416 North LaBrea Avenue (south of Sunset Boulevard and De Longpre Avenue); Hollywood, CA 90028 on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Mackie's Award will be presented by Golden Globe-nominated actress, Mitzi Gaynor. The event will be dedicated to the late Honorary Mayor of Hollywood, Johnny Grant.

The Hollywood Arts Council will celebrate its 30th Anniversary and present the 22nd Annual Charlie Awards at a Black-Tie, Red-Carpet Gala Event emceed by KABC Television's George Pennacchio. The event is open to the general public and will be held at the historic Jim Henson Studios, home of the original Charlie Chaplin Studios and the world famous Muppets on Saturday, March 29, 2008.

Now that the 50th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is history, and before the Tony Awards season sneaks up on us, it might be a good time to do a little investigating into the relationship between the category that both award shows recognize-Best Musical, of course.

The Paper Mill Playhouse Board of Trustees is proud to announce that Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill's Acting Artistic Director since March of 2007 has been promoted to Artistic Director effective immediately.

Rick McKay's acclaimed documentary 'Broadway: The Golden Age' is back on Public Television and Rick McKay will appear live with WLIW's Laura Savini, hosting the film, on WLIW/21 in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut area on Wednesday, August 8th at 7:30 PM, which will be rebroadcast at 11:30 PM and Thursday, August 9th at 1 PM.

American Public Television and PBS stations around the country have renewed Rick McKay's award-winning documentary Broadway: The Golden Age for another two years, beginning this weekend.
