NEWSIES welcomes back original cast member Capathia Jenkins in the role of 'Medda Larkin'. Jenkins, who originated the role on Broadway, begins performances tonight, July 15 and will remain with the hit musical through its final performance on August 24.

Prince Ali could soon be taking a magic carpet ride across the pond, according to the Daily Mail. Disney Theatrical Productions executives are set to meet with London Palladium officials to talk about bringing Aladdin to the West End in 2016. Their first choice, the Prince Edward Theatre, is already occupied by MISS SAIGON.

The cast of the new Broadway smash, Disney's Aladdin, is currently in the studio laying down tracks for the Original Cast Recording of the show, to be released by Walt Disney Records digitally today, May 27th. The physical album is set for release today, June 17th and will also be available for purchase in-theater. The Aladdin Original Broadway Cast Recording will be produced by Alan Menken, Michael Kosarin, Frank Filipetti and Chris Montan and executive produced by Kurt Deutsch.
Actors Fund Gala Celebrating 20 Years of Disney on Broadway Raises $1.6 Million

The Actors Fund's annual gala yesterday raised a record-breaking $1.6 million, as a sold-out audience at the New Amsterdam Theatre witnessed stars of 20 years of Disney on Broadway in highlights from the producing powerhouse's history of award-winning shows. The evening honored the creative collaborators and staff members of Disney Theatrical Productions as they celebrate 20 years on Broadway. Formed in 1994 and operating under the direction of president and producer Thomas Schumacher, Disney received the Medal of Honor, the highest award given by the 132-year old non-profit human services organization. In addition, Fund CEO Joseph P. Benincasa received The Fund's honor for 25 years of service to the creative community.

Disney's Aladdin, a new musical comedy based on the Academy Award®-winning animated film, begins performances at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26th, 2014, prior to opening on March 20th. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, the show features music by Tony Award® and eight-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (Evita, Aida) and two-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).

The View's Sherri Shepherd recently fulfilled her lifelong dream when she made her Broadway debut in the SMASH hit, Tony Award winning musical, NEWSIES. During her one-night only appearance, Shepherd will take viewers backstage, up close and personal with the creative team, cast and crew - with all the backstage antics and opening night jitters on 'The View's JANUARY 25th episode airing 11:00 am/ET on ABC.
