Previews begin today, January 20, for the U.S. premiere of 'Backbeat,' the dramatic new play with music about the birth of one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands in history, the Beatles. 'Backbeat' begins performances today, January 20 and continues through March 1, 2013. The opening is set for January 30.

The groundbreaking musical "Assassins" by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman brings the Sierra Stages 2012 season to a close with a bang! The five-time Tony award-winning musical will play from October 25 through November 17 at the intimate Off Center Stage (behind The Center for the Arts) in Grass Valley. The show features 16 amazing Nevada County actors, accompanied by an amazing four-person band, and is directed by Susan Mason, with musical direction by Ken Getz.

If all the absurd events happening on Wall Street these days sound to you like something out of a Gilbert & Sullivan parody, well, it turns out you'd be absolutely right...and, in fact, the new musical Gilbert & Sullivan on Wall Street has won First Prize in the Academy for New Musical Theatre's 2010 Search for New Musicals and will be presented in concert at the Colony Theatre in Burbank on Monday, November 15th at 7:30 p.m.
