BWW Review: MTG Provides a Lilting Rendition of PROMISES PROMISES
by Don Grigware - Sep 27, 2016

In 1968 Promises, Promises, based on 1960's hit film The Apartment, opened on Broadway to great critical and popular acclaim. It was the first collaboration between Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and the resultant score was - and still is - regarded as one of the most gloriously upbeat musicals to grace a stage. Throw in Neil Simon, who wrote the book, and how can you miss having a hit? Promises2 was nominated for 8 Tony Awards and won 2 for Jerry Orbach and Marion Mercer. The show was successfully revived in 2010 in New York starring Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth, but did not receive nearly the same praise from audience or critics.

BWW Reviews: ABIGAIL'S PARTY, Curve Theatre Leicester, October 24 2014
by Jenny Antill - Oct 25, 2014

I remember studying Abigail's Party in school and watching the 1977 television Play For Today version, based on the original Hampstead Theatre production. The dialogue is colloquial and there is nothing complex about the content. It is a situational drama crammed full of every day occurrences, stressing on the naturalness of conversation e.g. awkward pauses, of which there is a lot of them! The characters and strength of the acting ensure the success of the writing and those involved in the Curve's latest production do just that.

BWW Reviews: Runaway Stage Productions' BONNIE & CLYDE
by Meg Masterson - Sep 7, 2014

The production is a good effort on Runaway's part, but Bonnie and Clyde's writing is not the best material to work with. The show leaves me questioning why we are retelling this story, especially in such a bland manner. If we are going to revive our folk heroes on stage, they deserve something with a little more spark than Wildhorn's formulaic treatment.
