L.A.'s East West Players Announces New Staff

East West Players, the nation's premier Asian American theatre, is proud to announce the addition of two new staff members to the East West Players team: Christine Huynh as the PR/Marketing Manager and Tim Lounibos as the Business Administrator.

Mu Performing Arts Opens YELLOW FACE at the Guthrie, 2/6

The Guthrie and Mu Performing Arts today announced that actor Randy Reyes will star in the Mu production of the Obie Award-winning play YELLOW FACE by David Henry Hwang, directed by Rick Shiomi. The production, proudly presented by the Guthrie, marks the second of three works by Hwang - all of which feature Reyes in leading roles - to be presented in the Twin Cities during the 2009-10 season. Reyes' performance as DHH, Hwang's alter-ego in YELLOW FACE, is bookended by his appearance in Mu's recent production of Hwang's new adaptation of FLOWER DRUM SONG, and his upcoming appearance as Song Liling in the Guthrie's production of M. BUTTERFLY.

Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown (Parade, 13, Songs for a New World) will join 2009 Ovation Award nominees Michael K. Lee and Jennifer Paz in this one-night-only performance of his critically-acclaimed off-Broadway gem The Last 5 Years on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 8pm at the David Henry Hwang Theater (home of East West Players) in downtown Los Angeles.

Playwrights Hwang and Albee to Make Appearences at Drama Book Shop, 12/10

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce that playwright David Henry Hwang will appear at the Drama Book Shop at 5:30pm this Thursday, December 8, for a free event to celebrate TCG Book's publication of his OBIE Award-winning play Yellow Face. Hwang will read from the play with actors Francis Jue and Kathryn Layng, who appeared in the play's production at The Public Theater, and will discuss the work with Edward Albee. A book signing will follow.

Edward Albee, one of America's finest dramatists, will make a rare public appearance at the Drama Book Shop, 250 West 40th Street, on Thursday, December 10th at 5:30 p.m.

Hwang, Lucas, Fuller set for Cherry Lane's 2010 Mentor Project

The award-winning playwrights David Henry Hwang, Charles Fuller and Craig Lucas will serve as mentors to three emerging playwrights as part of the Cherry Lane Theatre's 12th annual Mentor Project in 2010, it has been announced by Cherry Lane Theatre's artistic director, Angelina Fiordellisi.
