Earlier this week, legendary actresses of stage and screen, Ruby Dee died at the age of 91. According to sources, the actress was at her home in New Rochelle, NY, surrounded by family members when she passed away.

Tony Award winner Christian Borle is joining the season two cast of the acclaimed SHOWTIME drama series MASTERS OF SEX. Borle will recur in the guest starring role of Frank (Francis) Masters, William Masters' brother (played by Michael Sheen). He joins an impressive list of previously announced guest stars for season two including Betsy Brandt, Sarah Silverman, Keke Palmer, Courtney B. Vance and Rene Auberjonois. Production on season two is currently underway in Los Angeles, and will premiere on Sunday, July 13th at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.

Veteran actors Courtney B. Vance and Rene Auberjonois have joined the season two cast of the acclaimed SHOWTIME drama series MASTERS OF SEX. Vance will recur in the guest starring role of Dr. Hendricks, the head of an African-American hospital in St. Louis whose goal is to racially integrate his hospital, and Auberjonois will be guest starring as Dr. Papanikolaou, a former professor of Dr. DePaul (guest star Julianne Nicholson), who she and Johnson hope will endorse their screening program that uses the test named after him: the Pap smear. Production on season two is currently underway in Los Angeles. Season two returns on Sunday, July 13th.

The Tony Award-winning musical 'The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess' made its triumphant debut at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre, opening last night, April 23 at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. From a field of 12 local high school students, Jonah Gould, Mykaela Sterris and LeafRickard have been selected as the winners of the 2014 August Wilson Monologue Competition Los Angeles Regional finals. Contestants this year featured high school students from nine Southern California cities, who performed in the regional finals at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, Tuesday night, March 11, 2014. The top three student performers received scholarships and the opportunity to perform again in New York City. The August Wilson Monologue Competition is presented by the Center Theatre Group Affiliates, a volunteer organization that supports Center Theatre Group's education and community partnerships programs.

Tony winner Steve Kazee (for Broadway's Once) is joining ABC's military-themed medical pilot 'Warriors' as the husband of Morena Baccarin's character.

Deadline reports that Courtney B. Vance, who just starred on Broadway in Lucky Guy opposite Tom Hanks, has joined the cast of ABC's medical drama pilot WARRIORS. He will co-star alongside Eloise Mumford.

LUCKY GUY, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, is now in its final performances on Broadway. The production, the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe, was extended by popular demand through Wednesday, July 3 when it ends its record-breaking limited engagement at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street).

On Saturday night, BEHOLD: A Gala Performance, honoring 50 years of the Guthrie, took place on the theater's Wurtele Thrust Stage before a packed house. The performance featured a glittering array of contributors including actors and artists linked to all aspects of the Guthrie's past and its vision for the future. BEHOLD, the centerpiece of a weekend that captivated the Twin Cities and marked the long and vital relationship between the Guthrie and the community that it calls home, marked the half-century milestone for the flagship of the American regional theater movement that first opened its doors in 1963.
