Columbus' CAPA Presents LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL, CATS, et. al in 2010-2011 Season

CAPA today announced its season lineup for 2010-11. Highlights include the return of Columbus' favorite saxophonist extraordinaire, Dave Koz, and the ever-popular, riotous comedy of The Second City. Columbus debuts include acoustic guitarist Benise who brings his lavish stage production, The Spanish Guitar, to the Palace Theatre; DRUMLINE LIVE,a show-style marching band showcase based on the film Drumline; and world-renowned, contemporary ballet company, Complexions.

RIALTO CHATTER: Lee Daniels to Helm SCOTTSBORO BOYS on Screen?

Deadline.com reports today that Precious mastermind Lee Daniels has his eye on a screen adaptation of Kander & Ebb's SCOTTSBORO BOYS, playing out its final performances at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway. According to the report: 'While The Scottsboro Boys ends its Broadway run on December 12 at the Lyceum Theatre, there are flickers of hope that the last collaboration between songwriting legends John Kander and Fred Ebb will have a feature future. I'm told that Oscar-nominated Precious director Lee Daniels has seen the show several times and is in early conversations to develop it.'

Produced by NETworks Presentations, this elaborate theatrical production will come to life on the stage of the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adrienne Arsht Center from December 28, 2010 to January 2, 2011, with a special New Year's Eve performance on December 30 at 6:30 p.m.

THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, December 12. The production, which opened October 31 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street), will have played 49 performances and 29 previews. Previews began on October 7. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS is the last collaboration of Broadway songwriting legends John Kander and Fred Ebb. The musical features a book by David Thompson and is directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman. Yesterday, December 1, John Kander and the Boys visited Borders Book Store in New York to talk all things SCOTTSBORO and sign copies of the Vineyard production cast album. Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today that individual tickets for Jersey Boys, the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, returning to the Orpheum Theatre April 21-May 8, 2011, will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010. From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., tickets will only be available in person at the State Theatre Box Office. Beginning at 10 a.m., tickets will also be sold online through HennepinTheatreTrust.org, by calling 1.800.982.2787 or visiting a Ticketmaster Ticket Center.

Sean Hayes Talks Missing PROMISES, PROMISES Tonight

Sean Hayes will not perform at the Tuesday, November 23, 2010 performance of PROMISES, PROMISES due to a sinus infection. He also did not perform at the matinee on Sunday, November 21. In a statement, Hayes said 'I wish I never had to miss a show. I'd sleep on the stage if the doorman didn't kick me out. I made it all the way to 271 performances but my doctor tells me that singing with a sinus infection just won't work, which kills my dream of never missing a performance for the whole run of Promises. I'm at home resting and hope to be back onstage tomorrow.'
