Red Bull Theater Presents the New York Premiere of David Ives's THE METROMANIACS

From Performing Arts to Visual Arts To Pop Culture, The Shed Announces First Seven Commissions of 2019 Inaugural Season

The Shed's Artistic Director and CEO Alex Poots today unveiled the first group of commissions for the 2019 inaugural season in its future home on Manhattan's west side, and provided major updates about the organization's leadership, program, and capital campaign. New York City's first arts center dedicated to commissioning, producing, and presenting new work across the performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture, The Shed will open to the public in spring 2019 with commissioned programs filling its iconic and expansive multi-use hall, two floors of column-free galleries, and versatile and intimate theater.

Bourbon Express Premieres PICK ME UP With The Daily Country, New Album Out 4/20

Brooklyn based honky-tonk band, Bourbon Express, announces the release of their latest studio-album, Cry About It Later, produced by Eric 'Roscoe' Ambel (Steve Earle, Joan Jett), on April 20, 2018. Today, The Daily Country premieres 'Pick Me Up', the first single from the album. 'Pick Me Up' is an autobiographical song written from the point of view of a newly wedded woman who's so depressed about being broke in the wake of her honeymoon that she wishes there was some kind of buzz she could get that would last until payday. CBS All Access Announces Casting for Upcoming Mystery Series '$1', Including Stage Vets Leslie Odum Jr. & Gracie Lawrence

CBS All Access announced today cast members joining its upcoming original series $1, a mystery set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The cast includes John Carroll Lynch, Nathaniel Martello-White, Philip Ettinger, Chris Denham, Kirrilee Berger and Gracie Lawrence with Leslie Odom Jr., Jeff Perry and Sturgill Simpson set to recur.

The Cathedral Church Of St. John The Divine Stages the World Premiere Of Robert Sirota's IMMIGRANT SONGS

On Monday, April 9, 2018 at 7:30pm, composer Robert Sirota's new work Immigrant Songs, with libretto by Victoria Sirota, will be premiered at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine (1047 Amsterdam Ave. at 112th St). Immigrant Songs is commissioned by the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and the family of Marina Friedenberg Stern. Instrumental ensemble Rose of the Compass, led by Friedenberg Stern's daughter Nina Stern, will perform the work along with the Cathedral Choir of St. John the Divine and Kent Tritle, Music Director. This diverse program, Immigrants - A Celebration of What Makes New York Great, pays homage to New York's identity as a melting pot of humanity.

The New Jewish Home Celebrates 8 Remarkable New Yorkers Over 80

At its fifth annual Eight Over Eighty benefit gala, The New Jewish Home will pay tribute to eight New Yorkers who, in their ninth and tenth decades, continue to live lives of remarkable achievement, vitality, and civic engagement. The event, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Monday, March 12, raises funds to support The New Jewish Home, one of the nation's largest and most diversified nonprofit geriatric rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and home health care programs, which together serves 12,000 older adults of all faiths and ethnicities each year. Over 450 business and philanthropic leaders, influencers, healthcare and eldercare advocates, and cultural patrons are expected to attend the event, which is projected to raise $1.5 million.

I AM A SEAGULL, a new film directed by Brian Mertes, will have its world premiere at the Fourth Annual Segal Center Film Festival on Theatre and Performance (FTP) on Friday, March 2 at 6:30 PM. The screening, which is free and open to the public, will take place at The Martin E. Jim Helsinger, artistic director of the Orlando Shakespeare Theater (Orlando Shakes) in Partnership with UCF, was awarded the Sidney Berger Fund & Award at the Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) Annual Conference on Saturday, January 20, 2019. The Sidney Berger Fund & Award was created through a generous contribution by the family of Sidney Berger. Berger was a founding member of STA and former Artistic Director of Houston Shakespeare Festival. The award is dedicated to provide the basis for an annual cash award to a STA member artistic director in recognition of her or his outstanding talent and dedication to the works of William Shakespeare. Previous winners include Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company's Artistic Director Lisa Wolpe and the American Shakespeare Center's Director of Education Sarah Enloe.
