Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's NATIONAL BLACK THEATRE, the oldest continually operating black theater in New York, will present the New York City Premiere of DEAD AND BREATHING by GLAAD Media Award winner Chisa Hutchinson (She Like Girls). Directed by Obie winner Jonathan McCrory, the production opens tonight, November 5, 2015.

THREE DAY HANGOVER -- the acclaimed interactive theater company -- move into their own venue this fall for another new production filled with drinking, drama and fun. After staging several acclaimed shows in bars across the city, they present TARTUFFE in their new home, McAlpin Hall at The West Park Presbyterian Church on 86th and Amsterdam. This brand new adaptation of Moliere's classic farce TARTUFFE, directed by Beth Gardiner, will be performed tonight, November 4 to November 21.

The New Group presents the world premiere of STEVE, a new play by Mark Gerrard. Directed by Cynthia Nixon, this production features Ashlie Atkinson and Francisco Pryor Garat, and as announced, Mario Cantone, Jerry Dixon, Malcolm Gets and Matt McGrath. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays tonight, November 3, through December 27 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street), with Official Opening Night set for Wednesday, November 18.

The Drama Book Shop will host an evening with playwright and actress, Halley Feiffer, for a reading and signing of her latest published work, I'm Gonna Pray For You So Hard on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 5:00pm. The talk will be conducted by Pulitzer-Prize Nominee, Jon Robin Baitz, while the reading will feature Reed Birney and Betty Gilpin. Both of whom will reprise their roles from the Atlantic Theater Company premiere.

The play premiered at Atlantic Theater Company (Off-Broadway, New York) in the summer of 2014, with a subsequent production shortly after at Second Stage Theatre Company (Off-Broadway, New York), in the winter of 2015.

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists participating in its two Fall artist development programs: the Alumni Writers Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY, which ran October 4-11, as well as the two-week Theatre Lab for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), taking place November 8-22. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the initiatives are among the 24 residency Labs the Institute hosts each year for independent artists in theatre, film, new media and episodic content.
