New York Choral Society Presents STABAT MATER, 5/1

New York Choral Society (NYCS) will close its? 52nd season with a performance of Antonín Dvo?ák?s powerful Stabat Mater on May 1, commemorating the death of the great composer on May 1,1904. The performance will feature acclaimed soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Tamara Mumford, tenor Yeghishe Manucharyan and bass-baritone Burak Bigili accompanied by the Brooklyn Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall at 2pm.

Box Office Opens for ABT's Spring Season, 4/3

American Ballet Theatre's 2011 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 16-July 9, will be highlighted by World Premieres by Alexei Ratmansky and Christopher Wheeldon and the U.S. Premiere of Benjamin Millepied's Troika, as well as the Revival Premiere of Antony Tudor's Shadowplay. Tickets for ABT's Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House go on sale at the box office on Sunday, April 3.

Cook, Mitchell, McDonald et al. to Play Kennedy Center Gala, 4/3

On Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 8:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Opera House, the Kennedy Center will present its 19th annual Kennedy Center Spring Gala. Titled Michael Kaiser at the Kennedy Center: A Celebration of Ten Years, the event will be hosted by Smokey Robinson and will feature a selection of performers who have worked with Kaiser over the years, including Joshua Bell, Barbara Cook, Renée Fleming, Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Marcelo Gomes and Paloma Herrera of American Ballet Theatre, members of New York City Ballet, and the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Christoph Eschenbach. The evening will be co-chaired by Adrienne Arsht, Betsy DeVos, Alma Gildenhorn, Helen Henderson, Ann Jordan, Alma Powell, Catherine B. Reynolds, and Vicki Sant.

Washington University Presents the TREY MCINTYRE PROJECT, 4/1-2

THE FIREBIRD Comes To Segerstrom Center for the Arts 3/29

American Ballet Theatre will premiere an all-new production of the Igor Stravinsky classic The Firebird, with original choreography by Alexei Ratmansky, on March 29, 2012 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.

NY City Center Renovations Begin Today

New York City Center, dedicated by Mayor LaGuardia in 1943 as Manhattan's first performing arts center, today begins the final phase of its historic renovation and restoration. Designed by Ennead Architects LLP, (formerly known as Polshek Partnership Architects), the renovation will preserve and restore the landmark 1923 building's historic features while modernizing and upgrading the facility to create a world-class cultural center. A gala re-opening is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2011.
