New York Theatre Ballet Presents MOTHER GOOSE!

BWW Review: AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE: RATMANSKY, ROBBINS, MILLEPIED & WHEELDON at the Kennedy Center

The American Ballet Theatre's current program at the Kennedy Center, featuring works by Ratmansky, Robbins, Millepied, and Wheeldon (as well as the full-length Whipped Cream, not covered in this review), is extremely well done but a little uninspiring. It's hard to fault the fantastic ABT dancers, but I was merely appreciative, not enthralled, by most of the pieces on offer.

Sandra Kaufmann Guests with Kanopy Dance, Performing 'La Bonne Dame' by Deborah Zall

Sandra Kaufmann, former soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company will guest with Kanopy Dance in their concert entitled 'Dark Tales', a program of thought-provoking dance that ranges in styles from classical modern to physical theater, February 9-18 in Madison Wisconsin.   Ms. Kaufmann will appear in her original solo 'A People's Cry', a modern response to violence again women; and modern dance choreographer Deborah Zall's 'La Bonne Dame: Remembering George Sand', (the novelist who adopted a male persona to ply her craft more freely).  Ms. Kaufmann will also teach a master class at the Kanopy Studio on Thursday February 8.

Texas Ballet Theater presents World Premiere of HENRY VIII

Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) will present a mixed repertoire March 2-4 at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. It features TBT company dancer Carl Coomer's world premiere ballet, Henry VIII, together with Seven Sonatas, an iconic work of American Ballet Theatre's Alexei Ratmansky.

Roger Guenveur Smith & CalArts Center for New Performance present THE HENDRIX PROJECT

On New Year's Eve 1969, Jimi Hendrix's electronic blues trio, Band of Gypsys, played at New York City's Fillmore East Auditorium. Sarah Arison Appointed Chair Of YoungArts At Backyard Ball

On Saturday, January 13, 2018, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) announced the appointment of Sarah Arison as Chair of the Board of Trustees during the organization's largest annual fundraiser, the Backyard Ball performance and gala. Ms. Arison will assume the position immediately. The celebratory evening honored Academy Award-winning playwright and YoungArts master teacher Tarell Alvin McCraney (1999 YoungArts Winner in Theater) with the 2018 Arison Alumni Award for his contributions and commitment to the arts.

Mr. Ruggiero received his award alongside Gemma Bond (American Ballet Theatre) who was named the recipient of theEighth Annual Clive Barnes Award for Dance. The announcement was made at the Eighth Annual Clive Barnes Awards ceremony, which was held at The Walter Reade Theatre at Lincoln Center.
