Jake Broder, Elijah Rock and Angela Teek to Star in WORDS BY IRA GERSHWIN at The Colony, 4/15-5/17

The Colony Theatre is thrilled to present the final production of its historic 40th Anniversary season, the Los Angeles Premiere of WORDS BY IRA GERSHWIN A Musical Play by Joseph Vass, directed by David Ellenstein, Musical Director Kevin Toney, Musical Arranger Joseph Vass. WORDS BY IRA GERSHWIN will preview on Wednesday, April 15; Thursday, April 16; and Friday, April 17 at 8:00pm. It will open on Saturday, April 18 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, May 17.

Daphne Rubin-Vega to Join Off-Broadway's LOS MONOLOGOS DE LA VAGINA, 6/3

Los Monologos de la Vagina, now in an unprecedented Spanish language engagement at its original off-Broadway home, today announced that Tony Award nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega will guest star in Eve Ensler's ground breaking show for three weeks only, from June 3- 22 during the show's limited engagement at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street).

Melinda Lopez's BECOMING CUBA Begins Tonight at Huntington

Huntington Theatre Company continues its 2013-2014 Season with playwright-in-residence Melinda Lopez's latest play, the stirring new drama Becoming Cuba. Huntington Associate Producer M. Bevin O'Gara makes her Huntington directorial debut of the Huntington's playwright-in-residence's latest work. Performances of Becoming Cuba begin at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA tonight, March 28. Due to popular demand, the run has been extended to May 3, 2014.

Jonathan Gabb Wins IN GLORIOUS COLOUR Showdown Competition

Saatchi Art today officially announced Jonathan Gabb as the winner of its 'In Glorious Colour' Showdown competition, presented in partnership with the Saatchi Gallery and Winsor & Newton. The prize, which attracted a record-breaking 6,440 entries in a period of just 12 days, is the most highly-submitted art prize in the world.

Museum of the Moving Image's First PANORAMA EUROPE Festival Set for 4/4-13

Museum of the Moving Image and The European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) will present Panorama Europe, from Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 13, a showcase of 17 contemporary European feature films and one program of short films. Known as Disappearing Act for its first five years, the newly re-named festival continues the mission of showcasing vital European filmmaking as distribution remains challenging for foreign language films in the United States. Panorama Europe gives New York audiences access to what may be their only chance to see these acclaimed films from the festival circuit on the big screen or at all. This year's festival will take place at Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria and at the Bohemian National Hall in Manhattan. It was programmed by David Schwartz, Chief Curator at Museum of the Moving Image.

Huntington/Coolidge's STAGE & SCREEN to Continue with JUAN OF THE DEAD, BECOMING CUBA, 3/10

Stage & Screen, a collaboration between Coolidge Corner Theatre and Huntington Theatre Company that explores the depictions of shared themes in Huntington productions and acclaimed films continues its second season on Monday, March 10 at 7pm with the 2011 Cuban zombie comedy Juan of the Dead. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Becoming Cuba playwright Melinda Lopez and director M. Bevin O'Gara moderated by Huntington dramaturg Charles Haugland.

Huntington Extends BECOMING CUBA & SMART PEOPLE

Due to extraordinary early demand for the final two productions of its 2013-2014 Season, Huntington Theatre Company announces one-week extensions to the runs of Melinda Lopez's Becoming Cuba and Lydia R. Diamond's Smart People. The Huntington's previous productions by these acclaimed Boston playwrights - Sonia Flew by Melinda Lopez and Stick Fly by Lydia R. Diamond - hold the records as the two highest grossing productions ever staged in the Wimberly Theatre of the Huntington's second home, the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Museum of the City of New York Presents Hurricane Sandy Photography Exhibition on One-Year Anniversary, 10/28

On October 29, 2013, on the one-year anniversary of the day that Superstorm Sandy struck New York City and the surrounding region with devastating consequences, the Museum of the City of New York will open a major photography exhibition featuring images taken by both professionals and everyday New Yorkers who captured astonishing moments - including with smartphones - during the storm and its aftermath. The exhibition, Rising Waters: Photographs of Sandy draws on work submitted by over 900 photographers, many of whom were personally and profoundly impacted by the storm.

Onassis Cultural Center NY to Highlight Composer Giorgos Koumendakis in Two Concerts, Begin. Today

The Onassis Cultural Center NY will present two concerts in its Fall 2013 Cultural Series Program highlighting the music of one of Greece's most important contemporary composers, Giorgos Koumendakis, whose eclectic works have ranged from chamber pieces to the music for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The concerts will bring Koumendakis together with Steven Mackey, one of the outstanding American composers of his generation, providing fresh insights into both of their musical worlds. The concerts will be held at Princeton University tonight, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. and at Carnegie Hall tomorrow, October 15 at 7:30 p.m.
