Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in a program that, for the first time, unites the Philharmonic's Artist-in-Residence and former and current Composers-in- Residence, two posts Alan Gilbert introduced at the beginning of his tenure. The program features The Marie-Jose Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse's Rapture; former Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg's Piano Concerto No. 2, with The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman as soloist; and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 3 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m.

English conductor Jane Glover will make her Met debut on December 16 leading the company's holiday presentation, an abridged, English-language production of Mozart's The Magic Flute, directed by Julie Taymor. The 100-minute version of Taymor's popular staging of the opera will star Alek Shrader as the brave prince Tamino; Heidi Stober as Pamina, the princess he must rescue; Eric Owens as the mysterious Sarastro; Shenyang as the Speaker; and Nathan Gunn as the hapless bird-catcher Papageno. Albina Shagimuratova and Kathryn Lewek will alternate in the role of Pamina's vindictive mother, the Queen of the Night. The Magic Flute launched the recent Met tradition of presenting a family-oriented production each holiday season, with sharply discounted tickets and two special weekday matinee performances. The Metropolitan Opera and The Juilliard School present an evening of opera featuring Act I of Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail; Stravinsky's rarely-performed one-act comedy Mavra; Act I, scene 1 of Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini; and Act I, part 2 of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore in the fourth collaboration between the two institutions on Tuesday, February 11 and Friday, February 14, 2014 at 8 PM and Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2 PM in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Met Music Director James Levine conducts the Juilliard Orchestra and singers from the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, as well as singers from the Ellen and James S. Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts at Juilliard. Director Edward Berkeley will stage the program in a semi-staged concert version.

Utah Opera presents a unique, cabaret-style theater experience featuring some of opera's best known arias in Kathleen Cahill's, irreverent Fatal Song onstage at Rose Wagner Theatre.

Met Museum Presents offers a unique series of chamber operas this season, including an early Baroque set piece, two world premieres, and A Pig Tale presented in settings around the Museum.

Ensemble 212 presents Sonorous Strings: Orchestra Concert, the second show of its 2013-14 season tonight, November 13th at 8pm. Representative of a true kaleidoscope of styles, the evening will feature music of the Baroque and Romantic eras as well as that of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The program's soloists will include soprano Miah Persson, mezzo- soprano Stephanie Blythe, tenor Frederic Antoun in his Philharmonic debut, bass Andrew Foster- Williams, Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Philip Smith, and the New York Choral Artists directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. The concerts will take place tonight, November 7, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m.

The December broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week - the weekly radio series of concerts and recordings by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - begin with Bernard Labadie returning to the Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Requiem; J.S. Bach's Cantata No. 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!; and Handel's 'Let the Bright Seraphim' from Samson. The Collegiate Chorale presents its first concert of the season, Mefistofele, by Arrigo Boito tonight, November 6, 2013 at 8pm at Carnegie Hall, 881 7th Avenue, NYC. The Collegiate Chorale will hold its Annual Fall Gala immediately following the concert.

Throughout its 2013-2014 season, Carnegie Hall pays tribute to composer Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) in celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter will return to the New York Philharmonic for the first time since her tenure as the 2010-11 season's Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence. Manfred Honeck will conduct the one-night-only all-Dvor?a?k program featuring the Carnival Overture; the Violin Concerto, with Ms. Mutter as soloist; and Symphony No. 9, From the New World, December 10, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.

David Zinman will return to the New York Philharmonic to lead Thomas Ades's Three Studies from Couperin, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 18 with Richard Goode as soloist, and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, Scottish, Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, December 6 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m.

The New York Philharmonic will celebrate the 2013 holiday season with timeless classics and new programs with theatrical flair that bring in talents from the worlds of Broadway and the Internet. This year's schedule includes the annual Holiday Brass concert with the Philharmonic Principal Brass Quintet, joined for the third consecutive year by Grammy and Emmy Award– winning pianist/arranger Lee Musiker and his trio; Handel's Messiah, led by Andrew Manze in his New York Philharmonic debut; A Broadway Christmas with Brian Stokes Mitchell, with the Tony Award winner making his Philharmonic debut in concerts led by Ted Sperling; and a New Year's Eve program led by Music Director Alan Gilbert with special guests Igudesman & Joo in their Philharmonic debuts.

Tonight, October 29 at 7:30 p.m., soprano Jessica Rivera and mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor are joined by pianist Robert Spano on a program featuring three New York premieres, two of which are Carnegie Hall co-commissions.

Bravo! Vail and the New York Philharmonic today announced a three-year extension of the Orchestra's annual summer residency through the summer of 2017. The Philharmonic has been performing at Bravo! Vail since 2003.
