Casting has been announced for The Second City's 'A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!' which begins previews tonight, December 8 at the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Opening night is December 12 and performances run through December 29, 2013.

What happens when you combine a nameless boy, a ship called Neverland, a duplicitous Pirate and some rope? Theatrical magic. And that is exactly what happened when 'Peter and the Starcatcher' opened last night at the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

In an attempt to prove that Washington, D.C. isn't the only town that rewards malfeasance, Center Theatre Group is celebrating Los Angelenos' wrong-doings and missteps by asking all residents to search their consciences for the worst things that they have ever done, and submit said misdeeds now through December 23 to win a package of prizes. The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company presents the ninth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, is presented by Joel Grey tonight, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

Presented by Center Theatre Group and Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center, 'Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty' opened on November 21, 2013, and will run for two weeks only through December 1. Gillespie Concert Organ fills the concert hall with the nostalgia of holiday classics during Pacific Symphony's annual "Holiday Organ Spectacular," part of the Pedals and Pipes series. The evening ignites with the talent of virtuoso organist Todd Wilson, Broadway soprano Lisa Vroman and accompanying Symphony principal musicians: Timothy Landauer, cello; Benjamin Smolen, flute; Barry Perkins, trumpet; and Mindy Ball, harp. Visiting the Symphony for the fourth year, Wilson, head of the organ department at The Cleveland Institute of Music and curator of the E.M. Skinner pipe organ at Severance Hall, also performs organ works by Bach, Widor, Carter and Purvis. No matter how you feel about the vast number of liberties Matthew Bourne takes in creating his scenario for The Sleeping Beauty, you must admit the end result is vibrantly imaginative, magical and fascinating to watch. Now at the Ahmanson Theatre for two weeks only through December 1, Sleeping Beauty does indeed have beauty in more ways than one.
