Theatre Box to Present BY ANY OTHER NAME, 1/30-2/7 in Floral Park
You can't judge a book by its cover-or a romance novel by its author's name and photo-in the original comedy "By Any Other Name" by Claudia Wilson, which will be presented on Jan.30-Feb. 1 and Feb. 7 at The United Methodist Church of Floral Park at 35 Verbena Ave.
This charming comedy written by Claudia Wilson, who lives in Floral Park and is a longstanding member of Theatre Box, centers on Otto Putzhammer, a budding romance novelist whose stories are constantly rejected by publishing companies because of two strikes against him-his less than romantic sounding name and his less than attractive appearance. But his luck is about to change thanks to his sister, Heidi, who submits one of his manuscripts to a publisher under a pseudonym and a photo of a model. The result is a series of hilarious situations for everyone involved.
Show times are Thursday, Jan. 30, Friday, Jan. 31, Saturday Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. Proceeds will go to the creation of a Community Storm Center at the Church. For reservations or additional information, call (516) 900 2031 or email info@theatrebox.org.
