Horse Trade Theater Group Presents FRIGID Halloween Party

On Monday, October 31st Horse Trade Theater Group will hold its annual Halloween party with the 2012 FRIGID New York Festival lottery drawing, The BTK Band's 4th Annual Halloween Spectacular, and a preview performance of Dysfunctional Theatre Company's upcoming production, Brew of the Dead 2: Oktoberflesh. And beer, lots of beer. Costumes are strongly encouraged!

In 2008, Dysfunctional Theatre Company asked, ‘When the Apocalypse comes, will there be beer?' There was. Unfortunately there wasn't enough. Continuing to lovingly rip off Dawn of the Dead, The Evil Dead and Shaun of the Dead, Brew of the Dead 2: Oktoberflesh asks an even more important question, ‘Can the dead get high?' DYSFUNCTIONAL THEATRE COMPANY is a collective dedicated to producing ensemble works that challenge the status quo without taking themselves too seriously. The BTK Band performs their 4th Annual Halloween Spectacular, with brand new songs and costumes. Embracing their normal chaos, fifteen 2012 FRIGID New York Festival participants are drawn at random during the show. Come witness Agony and Ecstasy at the hands of NYC's hardest-drinking improvised storytelling rock band. There will be beer. You will also have candy thrown at your face.

THE BTK BAND is NYC's hardest-drinking improvised storytelling rock band. Raconteurs regale the audience with true stories from their lives while music and lyrics are improvised to turn their stories into songs. As if Tom Waits and The Moth delivered a baby from the gaping maw of Chaos.

THE FRIGID NEW YORK FESTIVAL was founded by Horse Trade and EXIT Theatre in 2007. Since founding The San Francisco Fringe Festival - the 2nd oldest fringe in the United States - nearly 17 years ago, EXIT has learned a thing or two about festival running. They introduced Horse Trade to the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals (CAFF) in mid-2006. Besides feedback from dozens of thrilled CAFF participants and artists, Horse Trade was drawn to its main principle: "...to provide all artists, emerging and established, with the opportunity to produce their play no matter the content, form or style and to make the event as affordable and accessible as possible for the members of the community," Horse Trade is proud to sign on to the tradition and chill out the New York independent theatre scene's ideas of what a theatre festival can be.

HORSE TRADE THEATER GROUP is a self-sustaining theater development group; with a focus on new work, that has produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater. Horse Trade's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent Theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. It is also the home of FRIGID New York - the first and only festival of its kind in New York City. In 2011, Horse Trade Theater Group was awarded the prestigious Ellen Stewart Award by the New York Innovative Theatre Foundation.
