New Comedy DADDY ISSUES to Open Off-Broadway

David Goldyn Productions presents the World Premiere of DADDY ISSUES, a new comedy by Marshall Goldberg. Directed by David Goldyn, previews begin March 31 at Davenport Theatre with opening night slated for April 7.

In DADDY ISSUES, it is 1982 and Donald Moscowitz has overbearing parents. They disapprove of his choice of profession (actor), his flair for decorating (pastels) and his lifestyle (homosexual). The one thing that would make them happy is a grandchild. His solution: hire the ten-year old kid downstairs to play his son. What could possibly go wrong?

DADDY ISSUES stars Daisy Eagan (Tony Award winner for The Secret Garden), Mary Ellen Ashley (original Broadway casts of Annie Get Your Gun and Yentl), Alex Ammerman (Mothers and Sons on Broadway), Tony Rossi (Boardwalk Empire), Yuval David (Bunbury at Abingdon Theatre), Elizabeth Klein (Women and Wallace at Theatre Row Theaters), Paul Louis Lessard (I Am Harvey Milk at Lincoln Center), Austin Levine (Mary Poppins), and Megan MacPhee (Pinkalicious), The production features set by Kevin Klakouski, lighting by Terri Tomola, and costumes by Kaitlin Day.

In addition to numerous one acts, Marshall Goldberg's his full-length plays include The Manufacturer's Daughter, a finalist in the Thespis play festival, and The Feuding Paleontologists, commissioned by The Parks Shakespeare Company. DADDY ISSUES is his first fully-produced full-length play. He has studied playwrighting at HB Studio, Chelsea Rep and ESPA.

David Goldyn is a director, producer, teacher and playwright. Most recently, he was an Associate Producer on Honeymoon in Vegas on Broadway. He was the founder of Rising Action Theatre in Fort Lauderdale and acted as its Artistic Director from 2004 to 2011. At Rising Action Theatre, Mr Goldyn directed Southern Baptist Sissies, The Sisters Rosensweig, Some Men, Take Me Out, Fit To Be Tied and oversaw the production of nearly 500 other shows. He was Producing Artistic Director of the Acting Studio Company in Orlando, Florida from 1990 - 1997 where he directed acclaimed productions of Jeffrey, Ruthless, and Fortune and Men's Eyes. As an educator, he was a Professor of Theatre at both Miami Dade College and Broward College and he taught acting at Theatre of Arts In Los Angeles. He holds an MA in Theatre from NYU and a BA from Columbia University in English.
